Urban trekking, the Pinturette on stage for the national day

MACERATA – The appointment scheduled for October 31 and November 1, Councilor Sacchi: «A virtuous” meeting “of spirituality, tradition, well-being and cultural tourism»

Also this year the Municipality of Macerata has joined the National Day of Urban Trekking, now in its nineteenth edition, which will take place on October 31 and November 1.

Founded in Siena in 2003 with growing success, the initiative, which sees the Municipality of Siena itself cover the role of leader and promoter, has over the years found the participation of a large number of municipalities. The goal is to promote a type of sports tourism particularly suited to cities of art, the seasonal adjustment of visitor flows and the promotion of a healthier lifestyle. In particular, Urban Trekking is configured as an opportunity to rediscover the lesser known beauties of the cities.

The theme chosen for this year’s edition is “What a Trekking Show”, to which the Municipality of Macerata responded by designing an evocative itinerary among the Pinturette, small works of art scattered throughout the city and dedicated to San Giuliano l ‘Ospitaliere, located within the historic center or in the immediate vicinity.

«It will be two days to be spent in the name of good living – he intervenes the Councilor for Tourism and Sport Riccardo Sacchi – valid for promoting both the well-being of people through a simple and accessible sporting practice, such as walking, but at the same time also a form of cultural tourism linked to the precious tradition of sacred shrines dedicated to our patron Saint Julian, which keep alive the ancient custom of placing votive “pinture”, in popular jargon, in places of passage, to invite passers-by for a brief rest stop. In short, a virtuous ‘meeting’ of spirituality, tradition, well-being and cultural tourism ».

The realization of the tour will see the participation and contribution of the Cif (Italian Female Center), which since 2004 has been promoting the creation and enhancement of the Pinturette, the Marche Tourist Guides Association and the “Odilia” theater company whose actors will stage open-air representations of the salient moments in the life of the patron saint. The meeting point is scheduled at the La Rotonda bar in the Diaz Gardens. The guides and volunteers of the CIF, accompanied by an expert critic, will lead the group to the re-discovery of the Pinturette in an itinerary that has all the credentials to give a show.

As regards the timetables, Monday 31 October at 3 pm the departure of the first group is scheduled and at 3.30 pm that of the second, Tuesday 1 November instead in the morning at 10 (first group), at 10.30 (second group), in the afternoon at 15 (first group) group) at 15.30 (second group).
