“Death becomes beautiful”: here is the selfie in the coffin. Controversy on the organizers

PORTOGRUARO – Approaching the theme of death to open a reflection on the meaning of life. This is the goal of the event conceived by Michela Zorzetto entitled “Death becomes beautiful”, Scheduled for Saturday at the Busellato-Terre dei Casai farm in Summaga di Portogruaro. The initiative, which will start at 4 pm and end around 7 pm, includes the exhibition of hearses period, the presentation of the book by Michele Sist “God plays videogames” and the art exhibition “Substance and spirit” by Simone Artico. The icing on the cake, the possibility of having a photo taken inside a coffin.

THE INITIATIVE
“The decision to organize this event – explains Zorzetto – stems from the observation of a phenomenon, widespread in the countries of Northern Europe and constantly growing also in Italy, which sees more and more people looking for a direct approach to those who are funeral equipment. These people are probably in need of answers on the meaning of life and especially of their life in relation to today’s society, which tends to put man on the sidelines. With this event we would like to give tools that are a stimulus for reflection on certain issues ».

WRITERS AND ARTISTS
Even the book, with the provocative title “God plays videogames”, is entirely about the meaning of life, about who we are and what we have come to do in this world. «The book, which is part of the Spirituality genre – explains the author Sist -, is the result of a personal research that has allowed me to find answers to my questions in Eastern philosophy. I believe that in today’s society, with its growing complexities, problems, increasing instability and insecurity in every field, it becomes essential to acquire that awareness that can only come from a true knowledge of oneself “. Even the works that will be exhibited are “figurative-evocative” arts. “With my exhibition – explains Artico – I would like to introduce the public to take a journey through the sense of sacredness of man, where to evoke the dichotomy between matter and spirit, with the awareness that myth is no less important than reality”.

The organizers have already received a lot of criticism on the setting of the event and above all on the possibility of being immortalized in a coffin. “They told me I had to be ashamed, but in the end – explains Zorzetto, former owner of the Crema & Caffè bar in viale Trieste and who now takes care of the organization of events – we do not harm anyone and we do not disrespect those who have faith. because there will be no symbol that refers to religion. I believe that here in Portogruaro there is still a very bigoted mentality on some issues. Death is still a taboo. To take the photo – he continues – we will set up a funeral home in a corner of the room and whoever wants to can access it. I thank all my collaborators, from the boys of the vintage wagons to the collector of funeral items. If the event were to succeed, we could propose it again in other realities ».
