What relationship does it have with loneliness?
“I look for it often, even if I don’t necessarily like it. The other day I was rereading my diary and I realized that I often talk about loneliness and how grateful she is. It is something that comes back, that puts me in difficulty but also gives me a lot ».

Since when have you kept a diary?
“For eleven years. A dear friend gave it to me when I left for New York: the first page, in fact, I wrote at the airport. In America it was a very precious company, a space you cut out to tell yourself things ».

What does it feel like to reread the pages written by the younger Valentina Bellè?
«A lot of tenderness. Sometimes even astonishment ».

How much awareness do you think you have reached after these years?
“Good, but not great. We actors are privileged because we do a job that pushes us to ask ourselves questions, but we also live in a world that is very distracting and that pulls back the work of awareness of ourselves. I often have the impression that I have stood still, but then the diary tells me that it is not true ».

Meanwhile this year he turned 30: how did he live them?
«The Magone came to me at 29, to tell the truth. I was sorry that the last years of the early twenties were compromised even though, now that I am 30, I feel relieved. Leaving the winds behind, as exciting as it is, is wonderful. I wrote that now I can be unconscious with conscience, and I really believe it. ”

What was the ballast of twenty years represented by?
«Twenty years are essential to understand, to lay a foundation, but to succeed you have to investigate, get lost. It’s never easy or painless, and it’s not a finished process either. Indeed, do you know what I’m telling you? I hope it doesn’t end ».

Valentina Bellè, 30 years old, in Romulus 2.

When she’s not busy with a role, do you feel lost or do you feel good about yourself?
“It depends on the period. It is never easy for an actor who only does this in life: it is better for people who have an alternative to fill this apparent void which, then, is not empty. For me it is essential to stop ».

The problem is that we have taken away the value of boredom, don’t you think?
“Parents fill their children with activity and this makes it impossible to get bored, which is a shame because boredom stimulates the imagination, and without imagination there is no future.”

For Ersilia, her character in Romulus IIhow much did you work on your imagination?
«It was a very stimulating role, also because, knowing nothing about the Sabines, my colleagues and I did a great job to create our world, catching very particular sounds from other cultures. This helped us create our universe, taking that into account Romulus it’s a courageous and revolutionary project, I’m proud to be part of it, it also made me have fun ».
