FLORENCE – Scandicci Open City, program of festivals and cultural events kicks off on Wednesday 15 June and, until 25 September, will host 130 events in thirty different places throughout the territory, with the involvement of 23 different cultural realities; this year’s title is The fantastic newspaper.
The Calendar kicks off on June 15 with an important anniversary, namely the 125th anniversary of the establishment of Humanitas Scandicci. At the Rogers Auditorium, in the Piazzale della Resistenza – until June 19 – moments of entertainment, live music and themed meetings. Among the guests Wikipedro, Paolo Ruffini and Andrea Agresti. A photographic and virtual exhibition will tell about his strong bond with the community and with the territory which, in the various historical phases, has seen many citizens-volunteers actively support the growth of this organization.
Starting from June 23, Nutida new dancers / golds – Contemporary dance festival with the artistic direction of Cristina Bozzolini, brings a program inspired by the relationship with the place and its inhabitants to the garden of the Pomario of the Acciaiolo Castle, supporting new generations of dancers, welcoming site-specific shows designed or adapted in shape “Naked”. In a garden, in the open air in the summer at sunset, performances in absolute and national premieres with the best Italian and foreign dance companies. Among the guests Aterballetto, Fabbrica Europa, NBDT, Compagnia Simona Bucci, Spellboud, Sosta Palmizi, Artemis Danza, Balletto di Parma, Giardino Chiuso, Ersiliadanza (23, 25, from 26 to 29 June. From 2 to 6, 8, 9 and 10, from 12 to 20 July). The Festival is organized by the Utopia Station association which, in the days immediately preceding it, will offer three days of yoga practices (18,19,20 June).
Also at the Acciaiolo, the Academy of Music in Florence offers five unmissable music and theater events: the mix of music / theater / talk show by Benedetto Ferrara, Dante’s “in love” and ironic reading with Gianmaria Vassallo, the songs of Piero Ciampi with Chiara Riondino and Alessia Arena, the Jazz of the great accordionist Gianni Coscia with the singer Anna Maria Castelli, the musical story of the Neapolitan song by Enzo Carro (28,29 June and 11,13,14 July).
Heretics is a book by Tomaso Montanari, where the author tells about some of the “heretics” who have crossed history in a very particular reading, to build antibodies against the most dangerous virus in circulation: the single thought. Heretics now is also a theatrical show that in the Scandicci Open City 2022 program is proposed by Lo Stanzone delle Apparizioni. On stage, in addition to Montanari himself, Daniela Morozzi and Stefano “Cocco” Cantini (21 June).
The Union makes culture is the project of Auser Scandicci, which, together with two other realities of the community, that is section Coop members Scandicci and SPI CGIL Scandicci, intends to bring cultural entertainment through two theatrical performances of the Mald’estro company: the first inspired by Don Lorenzo Milani and the second freely taken from Goldoni’s vacation trilogy (22 June and 19 July).
The Economy-Spirituality Festival makes a stop at the Parco dell’Acciaiolo again this year. On 6 July, the “Gift and Forgiveness Traveling Light” program is scheduled – an experiential seminar organized by the TuttoèVita association, directed by Father Guidalberto Bormolini. On July 16, the meeting “The spiritual revolution and the dream of a new humanity”, hosted by writer and screenwriter Folco Terzani, in dialogue with Father Guidalberto Bormolini (religious, anthropologist, writer) on values and ideals, dreams and hopes, for build the dream of a better world together. Conclusion with a musical show on forgiveness by the Armonici, with readings by the poet Massimiliano Bardotti.
The highlight of the programming in this location will be the first edition of Cinema under the stars in the summer arena of Pomario dell’Acciaiolo. Starting from 21 July, the Scandicci summer cinema will offer 3 weeks of programming. Every evening guests from the world of cinema who will dialogue with the public, each screening will be introduced by a cinema expert or in collaboration with associations / local authorities. The various subjects involved include the Scandicci Library, Èticoimpresa sociale srl, UniCoop Firenze and Murmuris. The Savino Del Bene company is sponsor of the project (21,22,24,25,26,27,28,31 July and 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10 August).
In September, and more precisely on the 3rd, Drum Circle will propose Scandicci resonates: the final event of a path of sensitization meetings to music and in particular to percussion, carried out in collaboration with local associations, to form a large community Drum Circle, in collaboration with city schools.
In this month also the now usual Scandiccese stage of Cirk Fantastik !, which every year offers contemporary circus companies for a dynamic, multifaceted audience from zero to 100 years! The protagonist, on 3 and 4 September, the Dromosophist company with Historieta de un abrazo and Antipodi, poetic and full of magic shows, which intertwine live music, shadow games, manipulation of objects and physical theater.
“The summer for everyone in the cool of the shady green of Poggio Valicaia ”is the association’s motto Green Philosophy, which organizes the Germogli Festival & Sdraiv in here – the cinema in the woods.
Quality shows, films with themed dinners, concerts, workshops, and a market to exchange books, clothes and games to give these objects a new life in a virtuous and circular vision of the economy. Consiag is sponsor of the project (1,2,3,22,23,24 July and 26,27,28 August and 2,3,4 September).
Also this year Mascarà Popular theater of art returns with its “Jazz Tales”: a format / show of theater and music that transports children and adults into the world of fantasy. Starting from a semi-empty stage, two actors and a musician will revive the famous fairy tales through hilarious comic situations: The Musicians of Bremen and The Emperor’s New Clothes (26 June and 11 September).
In August, and more precisely from 19th to 21st, the Accademia dei Perseveranti offers the “Sussulti Metropolitani” Festival: three days of prose shows, musical theater and activities for children and families. Among the guests Emiliano Buttaroni, Alessandro Paci, Diletta Oculisti, Antonio Petrocelli.
The Proloco San Vincenzo a Torri returns with PievInMusica “(June 26 and September 18.25) and” It’s Jazz Time “(July 2,9,16) concerts in the parish churches and accommodation facilities of the Scandicci hills, while at the Bella Ciao recreational club Fratelli Mariotti di Giogoli is staged “Maledetti Toscani”. Alessandro Calonaci, with his versatility, knows how to give voice to the various narrative registers that alternate in Malaparte’s book. In the background the splendid view of the hills and the panorama of Florence (8 July).
The novelty of this edition of Scandicci Open City is the Farms Festival proposed by La Scena Muta. In three different locations – Circular Farm, Fattoria di Roncigliano, Orti della Diversity – three days of shows, excursions, tastings and dinners to discover the hilly and suburban area of Scandicca. The ambition is to become the Festival of slow farms of the Florentine Hills, from Scandicci going along the Arno towards the sea to promote a social approach to the issues of “green” agro-food, “slow” tourism and local and world contemporary popular culture. Between Peppe Voltarelli and the Ukrainians Hudaki Village Band (26 August – 3-10 September) ..
The programming at the Circolo Arci Casa del Popolo Vittorio Masiani kicks off on 19 June. Here Officina dei Sogni proposes TeatrOfficina. The children’s theater, with children. The exhibition is an imaginative meeting place between young and old to revitalize and qualify alternative spaces in the city. The little actors will be at the center of this artistic experience, as active protagonists and spectators. Every evening, a show staged by the children of the theater workshops, a theatrical aperitif, and at 9.30 pm a show by Officina dei Sogni (19,20,21,28 June and 1 July).
Also this year there will be the theatrical review in the vernacular by the Circolo Arci. The project reaches its 24th edition and hosts 5 theatrical companies of the territory to offer moments of sociality to the citizens (22, 29 June and 6, 13, 20 July).
Always at the Arci Vittorio Masiani club “Yet it was beautiful in the evening”. The Metropolitan Association, in conjunction with the Anniversary of the Liberation of Scandicci, an evening dedicated to the themes of the Resistance and Liberation. The two actresses Livia Gionfrida and Giulia Aiazzi, accompanied by songs and music of the partisan tradition performed live, give voice to the events of the women of the Italian Resistance – relays, messengers, nurses, foodies and fighters – and to the social and political value they had in that historic juncture (July 31).
The program at the aforementioned Casa del Popolo Social Arts Factory closes with Summer Notes. On the one hand, the concert “Homage to Morricone”, by the Ensemble Terzo Tempo, led by Massimo Barsotti, in a project enriched with arrangements and contaminations. On the other hand, the great swing classics that come back to life in the sounds of OsmannGold, an orchestra capable of restoring the atmosphere of traditional big bands on a journey to the Thirties and Forties (19 July – 2 September).
“Words in flames – My letters are made to be burned” is the title of the traveling performance by Gogmagog, dedicated to the poet Dino Campana, 90 years after his death, and to Carmelo Bene, 20 years after his death. A car goes around the city spreading Bizet’s Carmen, stops in 4 places where some of the “Canti Orfici” recited by Carmelo Bene are broadcast, then on the notes of the Habanera aria, the performance of Gogmagog is staged (23 July ).
At the proloco of Badia a Settimo Gianluigi Tosto, Duccio Barlucchi and Angela Torriani Evangelisti stage another performance. A story with multiple voices and multiple languages - theater, music, dance, images – to get to know Dino Campana, his adventurous biography, his imaginative “European, musical, colorful” poetry, but above all his modernity. The author of the Canti Orfici will take us into his world accompanied by exciting and unthinkably pertinent music with his biographical and poetic story.
Another unmissable tribute to Dino Campana is that of Li.Be Libera Bellezza, entitled “We live in here in a long lethargy”.
An event that presents itself with a question: what binds poetesses and poets, madmen and prisoners? A life on the periphery of society, a merciless look at and from the world.
“We in here live in a long lethargy” is a poetic project and is divided into two phases: three poetic walks in the places of Campania in Badia a Settimo, in which spectators and spectators will be accompanied by a poet and invited to write verses and thoughts (31 August and 1.6 September): a final event at the Garden of Meetings in Solliccitano in which music and poetry will dialogue (9 September).
At the Fiorita Tennis Club NEM new musical events are back with Open Ring 3to edition. Three appointments are scheduled: a creative matinee dedicated to the children of the summer camps (date to be defined), a classic evening of the “Vie Nuove” project (inspired by the famous text by Robert Schumann) with music by Beethoven and Brahms by the best students of the Masterclass by Maestro Matteo Fossi (10 September).
Closing on 11 September with the long-awaited concert by Andrea Chimenti who presents his new album for the first time in Tuscany.
The Controradio Club closes the program with the talk show “Si fa d’estate”. In the Garden of Meetings of the Sollicciano prison, the Controradio Club and Controradio association present the talk show “Si fa d’estate a Sollicciano!”, A format experimented with the tour in the theaters of Florence in 2019 and in the summer of 2021 at the Pomario del Acciaiolo Castle in Scandicci and in the Sollicciano prison.
