CASSANO ALLO IONIO (CS) – The Archaeological Park of Sibari hosts the exhibition on 11 and 12 August The sky above Sibaribetween reading and music, proposing to renew ties with the past, moving on the traces of ancient Greek, Hellenistic and Roman remains that still deeply mark the daily life of the people of southern Italy.
An immersion in the history and culture of a place that begins there’11 August, at 18, at the National Archaeological Museum of Sibaritide, with reading The women of the Odyssey and continues, at 21.30at the Archaeological Area, with the Song to the Earth, the heroes and the Mediterranean by and with Giuseppe Cederna: the actor, writer and traveler, already one of the protagonists of Salvatores’ Mediterraneo, reads and tells the journey of men and the words that changed the world, from Walt Whitman to Homer, from Giuseppe Ungaretti to Kostantino Kavafis.
At 22.30, the concert of Roberta Carrieri and Dimitris Kossiouros, Mia Fatsa Mia Ratsain which the first and only Italian “ventriloquist” singer-songwriter pursues the secret affinities that bind the peoples of the south to an ancestral Greece, which is not only a place of the soul but a sediment of history in the collective consciousness: a cultural mix that it materializes in the form of a port where you meet the smiles and profiles of different peoples in the unique face of a Greek from Italy.
The August 12, at 9 pm, at the Archaeological Areathe journey starts under the notes of the violin Luca Ciarla who, with a loop pedal, his voice and various toy instruments, traces a new musical route in the Mediterranean with unusual arrangements of the Italian popular tradition, music from the Mare Nostrum basin and original compositions. Continue at 10 pm with the concert by Peppe Voltarelli “The long night of Sibari ”in which the singer of the Sibaritide he will retrace the most significant passages of his thirty-year careeralways placed in the shadow of millenary expanses of olive trees but projected on a “planetary” dimension, according to an authentically and completely “glocal” vocation: the representative par excellence of an unstoppable “Calabrian wave”, after all, has always mocked and mocked, with the strength of his music, the vices of a southern mannerism as well as the atavistic inclinations to lament and resignation.
Peppe Voltarelli is, moreover, the artistic consultant of the review Il cielo sopra Sibari, promoted by the Archaeological Park of Sibari with the collaboration of Squilibri and the executive direction of SudStudio. With this initiative, the Archaeological Park of Sibari, which has become under the direction of Filippo Demma a garrison of legality in a particularly difficult territory, strengthens its vocation to become also a cultural center and a moment of social and civil aggregation in order to achieve its objectives more easily. institutional including the dissemination of knowledge of ancient culture: a living culture to live and in which to find oneself together.
