L’association A3E of Chevru (Seine et Marne) gives you an appointment for an exceptional gospel concert, this Sunday, November 20. This association, for a Church in State, was created in 2003. In 1999, a big storm hit the whole of France, in particular the department of Seine-et-Marne. The Chevru church, dedicated to Saint-Thibault, suffered heavy damage and the question of demolishing or saving this church was raised. It is then that the A3E association and the elected officials will unite to take up the challenge of saving the church. Thanks to their motivation and their commitment, in 2007 and 2008, Saint-Thibault underwent essential restoration work, allowing it to regain its beauty.
This exemplary renovation has earned Chevru recognition. Indeed, the mayor and the president of the association have together received a prestigious award, the Heritage Ribbons. This award honors the actions of those who fight to rehabilitate these places of memory, who participate in the economic life of France, but also in the transmission of know-how in heritage professions. With the Ribbons of Heritage, the mayor and the president of the A3E were greeted and their courage was honored. A well-deserved reward. But the association’s fight did not stop there. Indeed, during the following period, she invested herself in work of renovation and maintenance of the furniture of the church. A part is even classified as a Historic Monument. In addition to taking care of this heritage site, the association has given 100% to the organization of concerts.
A unique concert organized this Sunday
L’association A3E invites you for its unique concert, this Sunday November 20 in Chevru, entitled Melek & The Gospel Fire. With the support of the town hall of the village, the association was able to organize this unique concert, in a unique place, since it will take place in the church. But then what is hidden behind this concert and this choir?
Gospel Fire was created by choirmaster, Melek, in Noisy-le-Grand, in September 2005. This gospel choir brings together in varying degrees between nine and twenty singers and musicians, of different sensibilities and coming from all walks of life. Through this crossbreeding, Gospel Fire gives strength, color to a shared emotion. It is one of the most original gospel choirs in France. Indeed, it offers authentic interpretations, creations and arrangements. Gospel Fire aims to share its love for music with a very diverse audience. Each artist is very committed to transmitting the whole soul of gospel and this goes through the transmission of their strength and their incredible energy. With a varied repertoire, ranging from spiritual classics to African gospels or even modern gospels, you will travel through the history of gospel music throughout the show. You will thus have the pleasure of discovering original compositions by the author-composer, Melek Habassa, gospel whose secret and magic are hidden in the heart of Africa. On the concert program, authentic songs like “Yesus Kristo a ntuge Len”, “Banga jam”, “He get the power” or even “Africa Melody”. These songs are full of spirituality and joy. For some, they are even sung in bassa, one of the languages of Cameroon. Melek & The Gospel Fire also offers you another interpretation of the traditional African-American Spirituals already known, such as “When the saints go marching in”, “Amen” or even “Oh happy day”.
