Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old medicine originating from India where there are Ayurvedic clinics. It is adaptable to the whole world and owes its longevity to its effectiveness. It is still little known in France and is developing especially in large cities and on social networks.

Ayurveda is considered the little sister of yoga. The two are complementary and do not go without each other.

Caroline Boulan-Riboulet is an Ayurveda therapist. She has just opened a practice in Pont-Audemer (Eure). ” I gave yoga classes before the pandemic, but like everyone else I found myself inactive for a very long time. This is why I decided to train myself in this medicine which has many benefits and amazing results in supporting many pathologies. »

The digestive system

Ayurveda is simply indian naturopathy. It is a comprehensive, holistic and spiritual medicine with roots in science, philosophy, chemistry, spirituality, physics and more. It emphasizes the quality of our digestive system. The digestive fire called “agni” must be optimal to ensure our immunity and our good health. Stress, poor diet, crystallized emotions can modify the quality of our digestive fire, weaken it and thus create toxins in our body. The disease, from the most benign to the most consequent can then appear.

In Ayurveda, the better we digest, the healthier we will be. This medicine is based on the concept of the five elements of ether, air, fire, water and earth. These five elements will then combine energetically to create the three moods or subtle energies that are the doshas : vata is the resultant of the combination of the elements ether and air, pitta of fire and water and kapha of water and earth. All our life, we must take care to keep them stable.

Unbalanced doshas lead to disease. Although we are made up of these three doshas, there is one that will predominate and determine what is called our birth constitution: prakriti. This constitution is transmitted to us by our parents at the time of our conception and throughout the pregnancy.

What happens during a session ?

The Ayurveda therapist can accompany the patient, concerning the disorders on his general health (digestive, circulatory, ENT…), the health of the woman (conception, pregnancy, menstrual and gynecological disorders), immunity, depression, anxiety, burn-out, cancer support, etc.

It begins with an interview of about 1h30 on food, the quality of the digestive fire, but also the taking of the pulse and an analysis of the tongue and the nails (important source of information on the disturbances of the organism). ).

Depending on the reason for the consultation and the elements grouped together, a personalized program will be established by the therapist in order to rectify the ailments by acting on the roots by means of various therapeutic tools, such as: rules of hygiene of life, the practice physical activity, yoga, meditation, pranayama (breathing exercises), relaxation, visualization, aromatherapy or lithotherapy, etc. Certain Ayurvedic or Western plants as well as spices can be recommended.

Ayurveda is an ecological medicine. We can also recommend local plants such as nettle, for example, which contains a lot of vitamins.

Caroline Boulan-Riboulet

“As far as I am concerned, even if I can support consultants for all types of problems, I have specialized in supporting cancer. However, I would like to point out that Ayurvedic medicine is complementary to allopathic medicine and can in no way replace treatment prescribed by a doctor,” concludes the therapist.
