The Community of Madrid, with emerging art in the Circuitos de Artes Plásticas exhibition

Plastic Arts Circuits is curated by Violeta Janeiro Alfagema and, under the title the echo chamberincludes the work of ACCA artists Carmo Azeredo and André Covas, Ciprian Burete, Marta Galindo, José Ramón Hernández, Andrés Izquierdo, Esther Merinero, Maya Pita-Romero, Gema Polanco and Felipe Romero Beltrán.

The works gathered in the exhibition have as a common link the exploration of alternatives for the political imagination and crystallize the concerns of a generation in crisis. An artistic production that addresses meanings, implications and meanings of the traces of the past, which the artists investigate in their works so that they do not disappear.

Maya Pita-Romero uses biological production cycles in her work to experiment with the degree of toxicity of bodies, which coincides with that of nature. Meanwhile, Marta Galindo tries ways of self-sufficiency through the recycling of tools reconverted into defense and survival tools, and Ciprian Burete attends to the processes and production chains imposed by the market.

For her part, Gema Polanco goes through vital processes from a punk aesthetic, while Felipe Romero Beltrán uses photography as a research tool to delve into violence. The ACCA collective challenges through listening the way in which human beings organize and classify nature and Esther Merinero reflects the urban landscapes on which she pours her relationships with other people.

Andrés Izquierdo starts from objects and symbols linked to forms of spirituality and mysticism from the past to reinterpret them from a current perspective and, finally, José Ramón Hernández accompanies the still-live journey of migrants in his work.

On the occasion of the exhibition, a digital catalog will be published that includes the set of selected works, accompanied by a text by the curator, as well as interviews with the artists. In addition to guided tours for groups and meetings with the curator, the exhibition also includes activities such as performancestalks and readings by the exhibited artists.

On Plastic Arts Circuits

This call, which is a benchmark in the sector, was created in 1988 as a program to promote young creation that, more than thirty years later, maintains the same spirit.

The purpose of Plastic Arts Circuits is twofold: to promote emerging creation by granting aid for artistic production to creators under 35 years of age residing in the Community of Madrid, as well as the dissemination of their works by holding a temporary exhibition curated by a renowned professional and the publication of a catalog of the exhibition.

The Sala de Arte Joven, in its long history, has positioned itself as a space to promote emerging artistic careers and artists who currently have solid careers such as Mateo Maté, Marina Núñez, Fernando Sánchez Castillo, Alicia Martín, Philipp Fröhlich or Cristina Lucas.
