With 2 million and 200 thousand euros, the Puglia Region is back to financing small interventions for the protection and enhancement of real estate, public or private, of cultural heritage that have particular historical, artistic and religious value. And, this time, it does so by ensuring the economic coverage of 42 construction sites with which bell towers, chapels, vaults, sculptures, altars, baptisteries or pulpits will be recovered, restored or maintained.
“These are small interventions with which we support the embroidery of a web of spirituality and culture in places where the religious heart of the communities of the faithful is kept and the secular one of the flow of history and of the stories that have crossed them and cross them”, he said the vice president of the Puglia Region and councilor for public works, Raffaele Piemontese, commenting on the framework of the financed interventions.
With the budget of 500 thousand euros expressly aimed at seismic improvement and energy efficiency, as well as interventions to restore the original conditions of the chapels, extraordinary maintenance, conservative restoration and commissioning were financed in Panni, in the province of Foggia in safety of the bell tower of the mother church of Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo, with 160 thousand euros; in Fasano, in the province of Brindisi, the restoration of the original conditions of the chapel of the church of San Giovanni Battista, with 340 thousand euros.
Given that the number of requests addressed to the chapters of the regional budget destined for extraordinary maintenance and conservative restoration exceeded the requested budget, maximum contributions of 35 thousand and 500 euros were assigned to the Municipalities and 43 thousand and 170 euros to the social institutions attributable to religious bodies of the Catholic Church and other confessions.
