Following his death, several of his colleagues in the Hollywood industry paid tribute to him, including John Travolta, who is himself a notorious follower of Scientology.

According to information that has emanated since Alley’s death, she was introduced to this religious movement by a neighbor in the 1970s, before joining it completely following a stay at the addiction treatment center of the Scientology.

The actress of Vacation Class was then battling a cocaine addiction.

“I thought I was going to overdose almost every time. I snorted the coke, then I sat there. I was taking my pulse [en pensant], “I’m dying, I’m dying, I’m dying.” Who would have continued to take it?”, she had declared to EntertainmentTonight in 2012.

Hesitant to join the ranks of the Church of Scientology, she then said to herself: “It’s either the biggest scam in the universe, or it will get me out of the hell that I myself have created”.

Her rehab obviously had the expected success, because Alley never touched cocaine again in her life and became fully invested in the religion created by L. Ron Hubbard, even reaching there, according to some, the status of ” super-human”.

“OT VIII [pour “Operating Thetan Niveau 8”] is the highest you can reach on the “Bridge to Total Freedom”. It’s a process that can cost between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000 and it can take you 20 years,” Tony Ortega, who is behind the Scientology Blog, told media. The Underground Bunker.

On his blog, he also writes: “In 2018, we reported that one of Scientology’s own publications revealed that Alley had reached the ultimate audit level on the ‘Bridge to Total Freedom’, known as name of Operating Thetan Level Eight, or “OT 8”. The magazine included this quote from the actress about reaching a level that gave her power over “matter, energy, space and time.”

He then quotes Kirstie Alley: “Now I stand here with a bright, cool, calm new OT VIII… well, as calm as a thetan like me can be. I am more confident than ever. And here is the big news. I now have full confrontation that puts me on that damn scale of confrontation with other Scientology freedom fighters!”

Unfortunately, it seems that this “super-human” status was not enough to overcome the scourge of cancer.

In the message published following his death, his daughters True and Lillie made no reference to his esoteric-religious beliefs.
