MerAteneo is back: here is the program for the spring session

The lessons will take place in the auditorium of the Municipality of Merate from 17 February to 12 May

The history of Russia, Alessandro Manzoni and the archaeological sites of the province will be at the center of the MerAteneo spring session

MERATE – The history, art and culture of modern Russia; the in-depth analysis on Alessandro Manzoni whose 150th death falls this year as well as the focus on some archaeological sites in the province: these are the topics at the center of the spring session of MerAteneo, an exhibition now in its tenth academic year, scheduled from 17 February to 12 May.

The artistic direction is entrusted to the Liberi Sogni cooperative which has calibrated the program on anniversaries, novelties and great returns.
“In particular, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his death, we will learn about Alessandro Manzoni as a man, immersed in his historical and above all family context, as well as through the extraordinary musical tribute composed by Maestro Verdi for his funeral – the organizers explain – . We will also continue with the insights into Russia, a country at the center of today’s events, with a culture that is as fascinating as it is unknown, completing the history cycle begun in the last session, and adding meetings on the figures of writers and artists. We will re-propose disciplines dear to MerAteneo, such as psychology, this year in an entirely new formula with two speakers on stage, Archaeology, to discover our territory, and great returns such as the lessons on Dante. As always, there will be some small changes: this year we will also be talking about weapons and military strategies in the Middle Ages”.

Satisfied the Councilor for Culture Florence Albani who assures that “MerAteneo will continue to amaze”, wishing all members a good “journey into memory and knowledge”, announcing ad hoc initiatives by the councilorship to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the death of Alessandro Manzoni.
To take part in MerAteneo, you must register (cost: 35 euros for residents, 40 euros for non-residents) by sending a pre-registration email from Tuesday 17 January to eventi.culturali@comune.merate.lc.it

All classes will take place on Friday afternoon from 14.30 to 16.45 in attendance at the “Giusi Spezzaferri” Auditorium (Piazza degli Eroi, 3).
