Materiality and spirituality that meet in sculpture: in Luino the exhibition “RIEMERSE” by Elena Rede

Matter and spirit, lightness and heaviness, bodies and souls: different dichotomies that come together and find in the sculpture the ideal way to show themselves and to trigger reflections and emotions.

This, and much more, is RESUME, the staff of Elena Rede – pseudonym of Elena Re Depaolini – inaugurated yesterday afternoon, Friday 28 October, in Luinowith the presence of the mayor Enrico Bianchi and the deputy mayor Antonella Sonnessa, together with many citizens who have crossed the doors of Verbania Palace.

A work placed outside the former Kursaal, KING BORNalready invites you to have a different look at this corner of the city just a few steps from the lake, as well as those located in the halls of the building, all united by a research e From one technique deepened in the course of thirty years of work by the Milanese artist: «It is precisely from KING BORN that this whole project was born – explains Rede – A project that belongs to me in the DNA, because I founded all my work on rebirthlooking for the right way to express this great dichotomy, to be able to join and elevate it ».

Bronzes and landsincluding marble and granite, the materials used to create the works exhibited at Verbania (including three unpublished), on which the sculptor works directly: for this there is no multiple, but each piece is unique.

RESUME I am the souls – then adds the artist, illustrating the title given to the exhibition – our rediscovered spiritualityeverything we find inside us when we stop and we are aware of what we really are ».

It is just a ‘overwhelming universal energythe one that Rede intends to bring out of every pore and every open gash in the material of the sculptures that appear as if suspended between heaven and earth: a symbol not only of the very history of matter, which has always been wounded and torn, but also of the scars that each bears on oneself, of those cracks which, however, also allow us to look beyond.

The exhibition organized by the association Friends of the Sempiterne together with Common and al Rotary Club Laveno Luino Alto Verbanowhich will remain open until next November 27this truly “one of a kind”, as the councilor for culture affirms Serena Botta«And it is the fruit of one collaboration e of a synergy among a group of women and local realities born already last year, with the strong desire to bring to Luino one of the few active sculptors in Italy ».

“We strongly wanted it – echoes the councilor Valeria Squitieri – and having her here for the entire month of November also allows us to create a connection with the issue of violence against womengiven that many of the pieces present are also linked to the female universe ».

And gender-based violence will be at the center of the first of the three side events which will further enrich this event, with an afternoon of conversation, both informative and cultural, on the subject that will see the presence of law enforcement and other guests Saturday 12 November.
