In Cefalù the Tosca concert with her “Musical notes from the world”

Friday 9 December, as part of the La Via dei Presepi initiative, organized by the Diocese of Cefalù and the Il Segno Social Cooperative, with the contribution of the Municipality of Cefalù and the collaboration of the Proloco of the Norman town, stops in the Basilica Cathedral in Cefalù, Tuscany with his A”musical notes from the world”. It is a real musical journey around the world, a show of sounds and words, poetic and vibrant, almost a “story in music” also thanks to the skilful use of very distant languages, which passes from a fado Portuguese to a Japanese melody, from a shaman song to a traditional Yiddish wedding, from a gypsy ballad up to the Italian shores of author and popular music, with an extraordinary tribute to Roman song.

A place of spirituality of unique beauty, it hosts for one evening the unmistakable voice and unique art of Tosca, singer, eclectic artist, musical researcher and experimenter who returns to the stage to tell her story in a concert-event. Music Notes from the World, boundaries and bounds of the sound of the voice: a project that puts the point and retraces the most significant stages of his artistic journey between experiments, research and new arrangements and which for the first time brings together some great artists, as well as his exceptional companions in the fundamental stages of his musical journey. Rare pieces and unobtainable melodies, contaminations with other cultures intertwined with our roots, in an evening which for the occasion will also embrace Christmas carols from around the world together with great classics of the Italian tradition and songs from his repertoire such as The sound of the voice, a piece written by Ivano Fossati which gives the title to his latest studio album. All linked by a dramaturgical journey through the words of great poets of the world, created for the occasion by the director Massimo Venturiello.

“Paraphrasing Pessoa – says Tosca – in a moment of political and social confusion, the music of the people protects you because it makes you belong, if you want’. Mine is not one philological research, but a search for artistic affinity where I could also sink my roots. It’s an adventure into the many souls of the song. I chose songs from the trips I usually make two or three times a year and the virtual ones I’ve made in almost twenty years of theater and song. I let myself be guided by instinct, by the beauty of the songs I found and took away with me”. Attentive, passionate and rigorous, capable of finding the right balance between audacity and restraint, interpretative intensity and genuine theatricality, over time Tosca has proven to be less and less predictable and in constant evolution. “The noble art of cultured song must be taken care of, treated and kept, as if they were family jewels”, she says. And in her career lived between concerts, theater and illustrious collaborations including Ron, Dalla, Buarque, Zero, Morricone, the artist has always remained true to herself; she forged songs, working on Research and on emotions, trying to convey that something extra that only music can give.

A set of disparate experiences, from which Tosca has managed to draw ever new stimuli, and which have unquestionably made her one of the most prismatic personalities of Italian songwriting, capable of giving life to different “artistic lives”. Last in order of time, that of Arts workshop Pier Paolo Pasolini, innovative Higher Education Laboratory of theatre, song and multimedia, cradle of young artists, “a place of belonging which – he concludes – can perhaps save young people from many media traps. I am the grandson of migrant farmers, for me music and theater are like a land where to plant a seed. And wait for the harvest…”.
