Servio Tulio Castaños Guzmán, Executive Vice President of the Institutionality and Justice Foundation (Finjus), considered this Monday that the recent events of violence that claimed the lives of around 10 people is the consequence of the levels of social breakdown who live in the Dominican Republic.
Castaños Guzmán said that in the country “it seems that the family is failing”which he considered a reality.
“You find that every time you go out into the street you are exposed to aggression. Here there is an issue that must be worked on, that is, the issue of violence is one that must be worked on from home,” said the vice president of Finjus.
He indicated that there are many cases of “men killing their wives”which in your opinion can only be corrected from home.
He stated that the violence it is a holistic issue that must be resolved by all, since it affects both citizens and the government.
“It is not a problem of the State, it is a problem that it seems that the levels of violence in the Dominican Republic have overflowed and there is a reality that is what is most worrying the citizens and that is that this situation seems to be normal situations, that is, the capacity for wonder of the Dominican was lost “said Castaños Guzmán.
He considered that the family should work since the issue should be addressed from the home and not from the schools, because “you are going to train at school, but education is simply from home.”

When questioned about whether the National Police got out of hand “the mess” to which he referred, Servio Tulio Castaños Guzmán said that he went to society in general since it is not a problem of the State or of a Government, but of a “citizenship that is using violence as a mechanism to be able to respond to a personal situation”.
He argued that the seriousness of the violent acts is that they are “people with personal problems” which is affecting all citizens, which he defined as a serious event.
Code: violence should be the concern of all social sectors
The president of the Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity (Codue), Feliciano Lacen Custodio, referred in similar terms, stating that the increase in violence in the country must be faced by the Government, the authorities, churches, the media and civil society, entities that must focus on carrying out massive campaigns to dismantle the system and promote the formation of a peace culture start from home.
Lacen Custodio stated that Protestant congregations should work on the issue of comprehensive spirituality that involves working on the problem of mental health, family problems, coexistence with peers and respect and rights of people.

The representative of the evangelical community argued that not only should the violence of gender, but violence systemic, product of an accumulated social debt that manifests itself in the guidelines of social coexistence.
The president of the Codue made a call to all the sectors that the family hurts, to carry out crusades in favor of life and the value of human dignity.
“Marchs, prayer days, massive campaigns that teach about the consequences of violence and how to improve relations between people in society must be carried out,” Lacen pointed out.
About the Penal Code
Likewise, Servio Tulio Castaños Guzmán pointed out that there is a political will to approve the Penal Code and that it can have a positive impact on the Dominican Republic.
