TERAMO – Saturday 8 October is the Contemporary Daythe initiative is promoted by AMACI – Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums and realized with the support of Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Cultureand the collaboration of Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation it will also be extended to the foreign territory. The exhibition, now in its eighteenth edition, involves museums, foundations, public and private institutions, galleries, studios and artist spaces throughout the country and, for the first time, will see Teramo as protagonist with the participation of ACS Show Circuit Abruzzo Molise and the contribution of Municipality of Teramo.

Saturday 8 October at the Hypogeum Hall of the Museum Complex of the City of Teramo at 10.30 the temporary installation of the work PARADISO by Alfredo Pirri will be inaugurated and will be open from 11 to 14 October, the final day of the 18th day of contemporary art.

On the occasion of the event that every year aims to encourage and promote contemporary art, on the opening day of the exhibition, the Ipogea Room will host the reformulation of the performance / installation PARADISO-HYPOGEO, at 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm – free admission.

Paradiso is a project by nanou group and the artist Alfredo Pirri, presented at the Ravenna Festival 2021, which blends the languages of the performing arts, and specifically the dance work of the nanou group, with the instances of contemporary visual art. From this union a path is born that sees the embodiment of the distinctive characteristics of contemporary artistic languages: the site-specific spatialization of the work, the participation of the public in the transformation of the work itself, the destruction of the power relationships (active and passive) of the artistic creation, the multidisciplinary nature of creation, the multi-sensoriality of reception and the importance of the question rather than the answer. The artists will be called to transform the past experiences of PARADISO, with an evident connection to the third cantica of Dante’s comedy, not only for the new spatialization inside the Hypogeum Hall but for a different social and community connotation. In fact, the project proposes the semantic reinterpretation of the “province” through the creation of a paradise in Teramo as a place in the making that transforms itself at the same time in which it is formed on the basis of who decides to enter the place. It is the choice of placing the Florentine poet’s most spiritual elsewhere, underground, in the degraded tunnels of the “province”, below the noise of the machines, in a “vocation to pass” where the limit between transforming and being transformed fades. A place, the Sala Ipogea, where Dante’s spirituality of the third canticle, the bodily presence and the spatial reflection of the installation are an obstacle to «indifferent realism that eliminates any critical function»(Alfredo Pirri).

The inauguration of the exhibition and the performance events will be preceded by a specific space dedicated to the youngest and the world of school with two different appointments, Friday 7 October from 9.00 to 11.00 the underground hall will host a dance masterclass by the nanou group with the students of the High School Coreutico Melchiorre Delficoto follow the boys of Delfico Art School – Montauti they will meet Alfredo Pirri to discuss the poetics of contemporary art. Training experiences of excellence that allow you to deepen the languages of live entertainment, educate in critical analysis and personal elaboration.

The installation will be open to the public from Tuesday 11 to Friday 14 October from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 17.00 with free admission.
