Catanzaro, on Saturday the pedestrian island returns to Corso Mazzini: a journey also between art and spirituality

Saturday 5th November the entertainment program promoted by the municipal administration is back to animate the pedestrian area on Corso Mazzini. “The city opens up” is the slogan, chosen in collaboration with Lab32, which accompanies the initiative aimed at reviving the historic center in conjunction with the closure to traffic from 18 to 20.30, in the stretch between Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Cavour. There will be an opportunity to follow the tourist-religious routestarting from the Church of San Giovanni, with the panoramic terrace open to the public, passing through the Church of Sant’Omobono, the Church of San Nicola, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception up to the MUDAS-Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art.

For this Saturday is scheduled an extraordinary event at the Church of the Monte dei Morti e della Misericordia, a journey through art, history and spirituality to get to know one of the most extraordinary churches in the city.

To animate the afternoon there will also be theatrical workshops and musical performances scattered along the pedestrian area, thanks to the contribution of local associations and artists who wanted to share the project to enhance the historic center.

In addition, the “Bike Tour” will be repeated, pedaling between history, tradition and culture: a 5 km route – starting at 6 pm in Piazza Prefettura and arriving at the funicular station in Piazza Roma – aboard comfortable pedal assisted bicycles, from the medieval origins of the city to the neighborhoods built and re -built in the 1900s, to discover the city of Catanzaro from another perspective. The Infostoria Micro-Museum space of the historical group Mirabilia will also be opened in the spaces of the galleries of the San Giovanni Complex. And if it rains, in addition to enjoying the tourist-religious route, the invitation is to immerse yourself in the magical dimension of the cinema in one of the cinemas in the center, to enter and go shopping in the various shops, to consume a hot chocolate or a drink in one of the many clubs.
