A Spiritual Book Fair at the Abbey of Fontaine

I’Abbey of Notre-Dame de Fontaine-Guérardsituated at Radepont (Eure) awakens from its winter slumber. For its opening of the season, it is a day dedicated to books and at the spiritualitywhich will take place this Sunday, April 23, 2023.

Tree and spirituality

For this second edition, on the theme “tree and spirituality”, theAbbey of Fontaine-Guérard offers a program rich in discoveries.

Once again the show will be chaired by Paule Amblard. A historian of medieval art, specializing in the symbolism of the image, Paule Amblard is also a writer who has published works of art intended to make people discover this symbolic language of works and their spiritual teaching.

She will also lead a conference at 3:30 p.m., on the theme “the symbol of the tree in the Middle Ages, a quest for the soul”.

Meditation workshop with Jean-Yves Leloup

This year, the organizers will welcome Jean-Yves Leloup, theologian, essayist, translator from Greek, Hebrew and Coptic. French, Dominican and then Orthodox priest, he is the author of more than ninety books dealing mainly with Christian spirituality.

He will lead a meditation workshop in the gardens of the abbey, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The price of the workshop is 35 € (including the entrance fee to the show). To participate, it is imperative to reserve your place on the website: www.lazare-capucine.com/inscriptionmeditation.

At 2:30 p.m., Jean-Yves Leloup will give a conference on the theme “the tree on a spiritual journey”. He will also participate in a musical time with Jean-Jacques Lemêtre. Finally, after a time of meeting, he will sign his books.

Lectures and musical readings

At his side, authors will present their works, including Leili Anvar. Normale, agrégée and doctor in literature, Leili Anvar is a lecturer at the National Institute of Oriental Languages ​​and Civilizations and collaborates in the work and seminars of the Institute for the Study of Islam and Societies of the Muslim World. She hosted the program: Les Racines du Ciel on France Culture, then Les discussions du soir.

She is also a columnist for Le Monde des Religions and since 2019 has hosted the program Islam broadcast on Sunday mornings on France 2. This year, she will offer a reading tales Persians accompanied by Jean-Jacques Lemêtre.

Sylvie Monpoint will give a lecture on the theme “the tree whispers in people’s ears”, at 11am, followed at 12pm by a lecture on the theme of “Sufism and ecology” given by Nadim Ghodbane.

Photographs and sculptures

The public will also be able to admire Éric Catherine’s photographs. Photographer in Lyons-la-Forêt, Éric Catherine has been sublimating Normandy landscapes for years. He will make discover his most beautiful shots of trees.

Without forgetting the sculptures of Julie Leblanc.
