A few days ago we received excellent news, because the film Slaves and Kings will be released in the US in 1000 theaters.

The new feature film Slaves and Kings produced by the Claretians and Stellarum Films, directed by Pablo Moreno (Light of Solitude, Poveda) and starring Antonio Reyes (The Ministry of Time, Grand Hotel), Alba Recondo (The Witches of E’lent), and Carlos Canas (Light of Solitude, Drug Squad), will be released in theaters across the country through Fathom Events Y Bosco Films on August 22 (English) and August 23 (Spanish). See the official trailer here.

SLAVES AND KINGS, set in the 19th century, is a Spanish-produced film that brings to the screen the exciting story of Saint Anthony Mary Claret, a Spanish Roman Catholic archbishop, writer and editor, missionary and confessor to Queen Elizabeth II of Spain. Declared a saint in 1950, Claret is the founder of the religious congregation of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, known as the Claretians.

«Saint Anthony Mary Claret is a man for our time»said Pablo Moreno, director of SLAVES AND KINGS. «Claret gave everything he had to defend the truth: he is an apostle, an intellectual, a missionary and a saint. There are elements of Claret’s spirituality that are very relevant today: his fight against slavery, against racism; his desire to educate people, to enlighten them in the midst of circumstances like those of the 19th century – which coincidentally seem to me to have parallels with our current times and circumstances. »

“We are thrilled to bring another inspiring story of faith to American movie audiences,” said Lucía González-Barandiarán, founder of Bosco Films. «SLAVES AND KINGS features a Catholic hero, a special friend of slaves and kings, who was steadfast despite persecution and whose history is largely unknown. It is important that we look at those who exemplify heroic virtue and show us the path of faith in the midst of trials. Who among us does not suffer for faith? Saint Anthony Mary Claret can help us and inspire us to persevere«.

As part of the experience of Fathom Events, The filmmakers have included extra content so that audiences can delve into the life of the missionary Catholic saint who was founder of a congregation, reformer, chaplain to the queen, writer, editor and archbishop.

“Don’t leave after the feature film!”said Lucía González-Barandiarán. “We wanted to take the opportunity to expand the film and delve into the ins and outs of this powerful saint with extra comments on his influence that reached the Canary Islands, Cuba, Madrid and Paris, and the Catholic press around the world.”

The arrival of SLAVES AND KINGS to theaters is a powerful opportunity to come face-to-face with a hero of Catholicism, a saint whose life of faith teaches Christians how to follow Christ in and out of season. Parishes and groups are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance and use the film and its message in their evangelistic ministry.

Tickets for SLAVES AND KINGS can be purchased at Fathom Events or at the box offices of participating theaters. For a complete list of movie theater locations, visit the Movie Theater website. Fathom Events (Movie theaters are subject to change.)
