Screening of the documentary film “Baltic souls. Arts, legends and landscapes” in the presence of director Stephane Ghez. An Arte and Cinétévé production, 2019 – 52-minute film.

In 1918, at the end of the First World War, the Russian and German empires were dismantled. The territories adjoining the shores of the Baltic then become Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and thus emancipate themselves from the overwhelming domination of their neighbours. Baltic artists play a decisive role in the birth of these nations. Painters, musicians and poets, influenced by European romanticism, plunge their peoples into their roots to write their founding myths. This documentary lifts the veil on this little-known episode in European history and tries to answer a fascinating question: can Art establish the essence of a nation? This story transports us to a fairyland of landscapes, underlining the deeply spiritual link that the Baltics have with their environment of unsuspected beauty. The music performed by the Estonian Philharmonic Choir allows you to discover the work of the most talented contemporary Baltic composers – from Arvo Pärt to Veljo Tormis – and touches the depths of the Baltic soul.

Concert: LES LUCIES, singers
Having set out in search of musical traditions during a 10-month trip to the boreal forests, the LUCIES duo has collected the most beautiful songs of the peoples of northern Europe. Today they share their discoveries and their encounters thanks to a sound universe that is both soft and luminous, rustic and melancholy borrowed from the cultures of the Baltic and Scandinavian countries.

Practical: at the Espace Octave Mirbeau Place du Champ de Foire in Rémalard. An organization of the Perche Rémalardais film club and the Rémalard en Perche culture commission in partnership with the Arts Perchés association.
Admission: Ciné Club members on presentation of the card – non-member public €7 – free for children under 16.
