What will you do when you get older?

Do you feel old? You can still make your dreams come true! It all depends on attitude, faith, prayer and perseverance

My days go by faster than the shuttle,
they wear out without hope.
Remember that my life is a breath!

Job 7, 6-7

Days ago I was shopping at the supermarket. My wife Vida was there too. A lady approached us, looked at Vida and said:

“Are you Mrs. Vida?”

“How do you know?”

“I read what your husband writes about Aleteia and sometimes he mentions it in his articles “.

I couldn’t believe it, and I thanked her for that beautiful gesture. I love to know that you read these writings, so sometimes at the end I enter my personal e-mail.

I have shared many things in my life with you.

On July 3, I will turn 65. It seems almost unbelievable to me. “But what if I just finished school!”, I say to myself “When did everything change?”

I always thought that when you turned 18 you stopped there, like a train stopping at a station that no longer offers passenger services.

In recent years I have seen so many things.

I have seen, like many in my country, a cruel US military invasion of Panama. I have written various personal growth books with a desire to offer hope.

Teachings of the age

I got to know Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament better, a prisoner of love in the tabernacle.

I learned to value the presence of my guardian angel, who got me out of so many troubles and to whom I often turn with this childish prayer:

“Guardian angel, sweet company, do not leave me helpless, neither day nor night”.

I understood the need to get up every time you fall, never complain and never stay on the ground. We get up as soon as possible, shake ourselves and start over.

I realized that life is full of opportunities.

When I write I think of Jesus.

“You are with me?”

“I’m here with you, Claudio”.

Paths to go, treasures to discover

It is wonderful to be able to share my thoughts, my faith, my joys, my life, my worries with you through these articles ofAleteia and my personal and spiritual growth books published on Amazon.

When I write these words I feel you close. I know you pray for us ad Aleteiaand this comforts me and encourages me to move forward.

It gives me the energy and enthusiasm I need to persevere and keep writing for you.

I think about the age I have to live, and the great adventures that the good Lord has in store for me.

There are still ways to go, treasures of spirituality to discover, great joys to live.

The Bible’s answer

A friend of my age told me complaining: “Claudio, we are getting old”.

I smiled at him for this interesting remark and replied:

“Much remains to be done. The Bible literally says in Exodus 7, 7Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh‘.

We need 15 years to reach that productive age where we can do many things.

And then we are not old, we have lived, which is wonderful, an opportunity that many are not given “.

There are always opportunities

It is never too late to embark on new projects and make your dreams come true. I recently read the life of the famous Colonel Sanders, creator of the Kentucky Fried Chicken.

In his life he has failed many times, but he has never given up. At 72, he became a billionaire, with 600 clubs throughout the United States and Canada.

And you, do you want to surrender?

There are always opportunities, and often they pass us by without us seeing them because we are with our heads down, sad. And this must change.

We can make our dreams come true! It all depends on our attitude, our faith, prayer and perseverance.

Courage! Let’s never give up!

Can I ask you a favor?

Sunday 3rd July is my birthday. Would you be kind enough to raise that day a prayer to the good Lord for this sinner who tries to serve him and doesn’t always succeed?

And if you are lucky enough to go to some church to accompany Jesus to the tabernacle, tell him “Jesus, Claudio sends you his greetings. Remember him. Today is his birthday ”.
