Maroma, A Belmond Hotel will reopen its doors in the Riviera Maya in 2023

The next May 25, 2023, Maroma, A Belmond Hotel will be reborn to reopen its doors. The legendary complex has a privileged location surrounded by 80 hectares of tropical jungle, next to the beautiful white sand beaches typical of the Mexican Caribbean coast and a renewed offer.

The reopening of the complex comes after a complete and million-dollar renovation focused on mayan culturewhich also marks the first comprehensive transformation within Belmond’s North American portfolio.

the famous designer Tara Bernard She has been in charge of directing the new era of Maroma in the Riviera Maya, for this she has worked hand in hand with local artisans to honor the Mexican legacy and Mayan roots.

The architecture and part of the original design of the property – such as the white buildings aligned with the sacred Mayan geometry – were preserved.

Coupled with curved lines and organic shapes inspired by the rainforest, the new design blends contemporary craftsmanship with careful sourcing of local materials to create timeless spacess that transmit the energy of the region and that allow the harmonious flow between interiors and exteriors.

The 72 roomss of the resort are located along the private beach of Maroma. As part of the renovation, the resort has 10 new oceanfront suites, including one with a private pool and garden.

For its part, the three original pools have been completely redesigned with Sukabumi cladding made by hand from volcanic stones, in the same turquoise tones as the natural cenotes in the area.

Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya will house a large collection of art and design from all corners of Mexico, the 80% of the furniture and the hotel’s objects have been crafted by Mexican artisans, such as the hand-blown glass chandelier, painted clay pots, and traditional Saltillo tiles.

Regarding the culinary offer, the executive chef Daniel Camacho he will continue his legacy of homage to the diversity of Mexican cuisine at the Casa Mayor restaurant.

A concept in which 90% of the ingredients are Mexican (almost half from the Yucatan peninsula).

With a local and sustainable sourcing approach, Major House It will have a vast menu that includes everything from the seafood towers and Michoacan corundas to the birria from Jalisco and the chocolate cake with mole from Oaxaca flamed with mezcal.
