To follow Jesus it is necessary to have the right attitude and demonstrate a firm decision in the vocation, assured Rafael Valdez Torres, bishop of the Diocese of Ensenada, because it is normal and frequent that he is rejected.
During his homily this Sunday, the bishop pointed out that the Gospel deals with the passage of when Jesus undertakes the journey to Jerusalem and is rejected by the Samaritans, for which he recalled that there are always people who do not receive Jesus.
“In all the towns there are different attitudes to not receive our Lord Jesus Christ, indifference, open rejection, not wanting to know about Jesus, not wanting to commit, being well and that we do not want the rug of our lives to be moved. life, of our bad actions, of our bad businesses, of our attitudes or ingrained vices that we have”, he expressed.
Valdez Torres mentioned that the attitude of a disciple of Jesus should not be that of anger or revenge, but rather that of respect towards the decision of the other people with whom someone may meet in life, and correct with the testimony and not with authoritarianism or other actions that may harm.
“This is important for us to think about, because many times we do not know how to control our feelings, we let ourselves be carried away by anger, we feel like someone who has the right to correct and punish others, our human relationships are vitiated by those feelings of hatred, of resentment, of revenge against others for different reasons,” he reiterated.
Likewise, he pointed out that it is important to remember the personal behavior in which people who are already empowered and accustomed to treating badly, imposing, demanding and doing and wanting to do, think and act like them are often found is a mistake, since , he insisted, respect is what leads to conviction and correction.
On the other hand, Monsignor mentioned that following Jesus implies a firm conviction, making a safe decision, without hesitation, and that follow-up can be given from the consecrated life, whether priestly, religious or missionary, or from marriage.
“Following our Lord Jesus Christ implies that radicalism in our hearts and minds, disposition, not coldness, not indifference, not that ambivalent attitude, I go to mass the day I receive the sacraments and then the day I can, the day that I am born, the day that I need; no, that is what Jesus rejects,” he asserted.

The head of the Catholic Church in Ensenada assured that Jesus wants the baptized to dedicate time to their spiritual life, not only with prayers and chest beatings, but with attitudes of charity, respect, service, gestures of love and not drowning in vices, pleasures and get closer to God when you feel that you will be called.
“The radicality is that our life is coherent and that every day we remember God, we invoke him, we ask him, we adore him, we seek him and listen to him, and those who are called to consecration, to the consecrated life, to the religious life, priestly life, missionary life, those who are called to marriage, may we all know how to give that firm and forceful response of love and service”, he concluded.
