Exclusively for EHD 2022, the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center in Paris in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Relations and Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Sakha – Yakutia (Russian Federation) and the production company SAKHA FILM present the screening of feature film L’Oiseau-Roi, 2018, directed by Edouard Novikov. Awarded the Grand Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival in 2018, this film drew attention to the Yakut film industry which is gaining momentum and becoming a real phenomenon.

Summary:
In the 1930s, in the deep taiga of Yakutia, the old couple, Mikipper and his wife Oppuos, end their days. They lead a rustic life, between hunting, fishing and cows. One day at the beginning of winter, an eagle, the bird considered sacred, arrives. All winter they feed it. On a particularly cold Christmas evening, the eagle enters the house and stands in the revered corner next to the icons. From that day on, the man, the woman and the bird begin to live together.
