Coppelia ice creams and partying nights to go to an exam the next day, the music of the 1980s as present today as yesterday, and a gypsy sitting on the edge of the bed who comes as a messenger but puts fear in her body; the clash with motherhood alone with two daughters, a two-year-old and a newborn; a law degree that was left in the pipeline when he crossed the Straits of Florida.

The life of the Cuban astrologer Alina Rubi, whose columns are read every week in the Nuevo Herald, is so similar –and at the same time so different– from that of any immigrant in this city. Several jobs, parallel studies, many beginnings, and a passion that ultimately leads her down a path that does justice to her decades-long studies.

Rubi graduated in 2013 from the American Association of Astrologers School in Arizona. And in order not to rest on her laurels of success, she has just released two books that serve as a guide to receive 2023, Charms and rituals for success 2023 Y Horoscope 2023, world zodiacal and astrological predictionsboth of them available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

What does 2023 bring that is shaping up to be tough in many aspects?

“The most important planetary transit for 2023 is that of the planet Pluto entering the sign of Aquarius on March 23. “Pluto symbolizes the end and tragedy, and, as Scorpio’s ruler, he is in charge of karma, death, and rebirth. Pluto’s transits produce collapse, annihilation and consciousness awakens from the ruins. As a representative of fate, any disturbances or catastrophes it produces are inevitable in favor of reforms,” he says.

The astrologer shares here with the readers of el Nuevo Herald her hobbies, her personal history and her perspective on different fields of astrology.

Before dedicating yourself to astrology, did you study any degree? What made you take the path of astrology?

I studied Law at the University of Havana, but I practiced for only one year. When I arrived in Miami I worked in several restaurants and offices, and at the same time I took courses in supplementary therapeutic and psychological subjects, reaching category four as a Reiki Instructor, Bioenergetic Healing with crystals, Angelic Healing, Dream Interpretation, Professional Astrology, Spiritual Coaching, and in August this year Chinese Astrology.

I leaned more towards astrology because it gave me techniques to assist others. It has been a path of discoveries because I verified that astrology penetrates into the depths of the subconscious, and constitutes the links between astrological patterns and the basic faculties of individuals, their growth phases, psychological patterns, cognitive processes, struggles, subconscious disorders. and personality and protection structures.

Honestly I have studied more than I thought, and every day I keep going deeper. My purpose is that through astrology people can heal and evolve.

How do you remember Alina as a teenager in Cuba, and what do you keep from that time?

Teenage Alina was happier than adult Alina, which is normal because at that stage we all have fewer responsibilities. If I look at that phase I see myself happy, trying to combine studies with fun. I long for those days at the scholarship, trying to figure out what I could invent so as not to work in the fields at 7 in the morning, going out every weekend to the Coppelia or the Yara cinema, or returning at dawn from the Café Cantante or the Cabaret Parisien, and studying a book of more than 200 pages for a test that same day.

I keep the moments with my friends, everything my grandmother taught me spiritually, the music that I still like today and the experience of first love.

What is the part of astrology that interests you the most and what aspects do you reject?

I like all of them, especially Natal Astrology, but Vocational Astrology really fascinates me, as it is unique in its potential to see the full picture of a person’s capacity for prosperity and success. I am also very attracted to Karmic Astrology, a branch that deciphers the natal chart in connection with a person’s karma, to enable their evolution.

I do not reject any branch of astrology, but I disagree with people who think that Astrology can be used as a predictive tool, and I say “predictive” in parentheses, since astrology is not a predictive instrument. Astrology operates as a method of relationships, therefore, we can see stages, patterns and balance in chaos. I’m not really into forecasting what’s going to happen, and even though I studied predictive astrology, I’ve steered clear of that trend because it doesn’t connect with my understanding of life. Astrology studies the past so as not to repeat the same mistakes and patterns in the future.

If the ‘stars incline, but do not force’, what is left for people to change what marks the date, time and place of their birth.

I think that the day we are born our destiny begins to be fulfilled, we come with a contract to this life, but we also come with free will. Our destiny is written in detail in the natal chart, which tells us what our challenges are going to be, but also what tools we have to face and solve them.

I believe in destiny, or in karma, but also in our ability to change it and decide our path, because the astrological patterns of our natal charts have infinite probabilities which depend on our freedom to choose. It is very easy to blame the planets, or other people, so as not to accept responsibility.

Have you ever encountered an obstacle that you thought you couldn’t overcome? How did you do it?

Like every human being, I have had thousands of obstacles in my life. I always say that you can have a plan and suddenly life, or destiny, changes it. The most difficult was staying alone with my daughters when one was 2 years old and the other 45 days old. My plan was never to be a single mother, and I tell you plan because I planned when to have them. It happened, and at that exact moment I froze because I didn’t know how I was going to handle that responsibility.

I got through it thanks to the support of my family, but above all to my spirituality and capacity for acceptance and resilience. I remember myself at that stage repeating in my mind daily the phrase of Saint Francis of Assisi: ‘Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible and suddenly you will be achieving the impossible’. And so it was, as if by magic that challenge became not only a learning opportunity, but also my ally and a confirmation that everything is part of a bigger plan than mine.

You once told me about a ‘gypsy’ over there in your ancestry. Have you ever had supernatural experiences, something that tells you that we are not alone?

My life has been full of supernatural experiences. Since I was little, that ‘gypsy’ I told you about used to sit on my bed and I was scared to death. Now I don’t like to call them supernatural, I tell them pleasant and wonderful experiences. I have lived incredible experiences for many, such as being in the presence of scholars “teachers” of the ethereal world who guide you.

In regressions I have seen surprising scenes from my past lives, I have visited the akashic or etheric records, mine and other people that speak of past and future times, and I have received messages or notices from my deceased relatives, and from my “gypsy”. through my dreams that have later come true, or have served me to prepare myself in advance for an event.

I recognize that science has given us many benefits, but there are events that challenge scientific definitions. I always say that my mind is open to everything and never tied to anything, because I don’t consider myself a fan.
