A long Ecoweekend. The “Ponte” di Ognissanti allows more than an excursion outside the city, among the flavors and tastes of autumn. Numerous proposals in Puglia, with the weather so mild as to guarantee an enviable range of offers. Here are the traditional ideas for spending an “extra-large” weekend.
It is an Ecoweekend to be spread over several days. The Aps Grott’Art Grottaglie knows this well, which for four days offers a tour of the ravines of Grottaglie.
Saturday 29 we start from gravina del Fullonese: almost a kilometer long (about 800m) and 40m deep in some points, it is the ravine that has suffered the most damage following the urbanization that has pushed up to the edge of the erosive furrow. There ravine of Fantiano will be the protagonist on Sunday 30 October and Tuesday 1 November, while on Monday a visit to the blade of “Penzieri”: located south of Grottaglie, it represents what remains of the ancient village of “Casalpiccolo”, one of the numerous rock settlements in the area. Festival of the Mediterranean diet
AND’ dedicated to Transhumance VIII edition of the Festival of the Mediterranean diet, scheduled for Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October, in Alberona and Troia. They will be two days full of events, intense, engaging with round tables, debates, training meetings dedicated to schools, popular music, food and wine tours, playful / creative workshops for children.
The Festival will open simultaneously in Alberona and Troia. In fact, the two respective schools will host the training meeting which includes the screening of the documentary Unesco heritage transhumance-Men and herds along the tracks of the Dauni Mountainsproduced by the Club for Unesco of Alberona, dedicated to the transhumance of the herds of the Carrino brothers of San Giusto.
Sunday in Alberona, from morning until evening, in the small village there will be a series of cultural events, food and wine tours, art and craft market exhibitions, exhibitions, music. It will be the GNT association that will open the programming with Once upon a time – Scenes of rural life (from 8.30 for the whole day-under the Muraglione).
At 9, in the Municipal Auditorium “Vincenzo D’Alterio” screening of the documentary and round table I tratturi between history and sustainable future. From 11.30, near the Auditorium, popular music and traditional peasant breakfast with the participation of adults and children in traditional Alberonese costumes.
At 19 Festa de l’Aneme i morte and cooked wheat by the tourist association Pro Loco di Alberona (piazza Civetta) For the whole day – in piazza Civetta – exhibition of art and crafts, stands of food and wine products, tastings and popular music.
Special guests of the Festival will be the Daune Tiles. Inside the auditorium, a space will be dedicated to the first Apulian network of female businesses in which to present the products of the eight companies that have adopted sustainable development practices. All events will be accompanied by the music of the Gruppo Popolare Dauno.
Walk among the olive trees
The “VI Walk among the olive trees” is scheduled for Sunday 30 October starting at 9:30 am, at Lama del Trappeto in Pezze di Greco. A small journey between history and nature in one of the most evocative blades of the Fasano area which for 33 years has hosted the renowned living nativity scene curated by the Living Nativity of Pezze di Greco Cultural Association.
Walking among majestic centuries-old olive trees, enchanted by their sculptural forms and accompanied by the guides of Cooperativa Serapia, you will reach the ancient underground oil mill set up in every detail. You will admire ancient presses, fiscoli, a mill with mullers, all perfectly functional, splendid testimony of a past of work linked to the gold of this land: olive oil. After the walk, the participants will witness the ancient practice of olive harvesting and to conclude a small convivial tasting – based on Agro di Pezze di Greco and frize EVO oils – by Copape Pezze di Greco. During the walk among the olive trees, the participants holding hands, will create human circles and circles around the centuries-old olive trees present. Between nature and rock settlements
Between nature and rock settlements, we go to the discovery of Ginosa. Sunday 30 October meeting at 10.30 in Piazza Nusco, in the heart of the historic center, to then head towards the medieval castle and the Matrice church that overlook the ravine. From here, through the winding paths, you reach the village of the Revolt to visit the caves inside that still retain fireplaces, stables, beds and furnishings of the time. The second appointment of the event will take place on Saturday 29 October, at 7 pm, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III, in Loseto “Discovering ancient flavors and ancient knowledge”promoted by the Municipality IV to enhance the history, traditions and local products.
Citizens will be able to visit and buy products from the market set up for the occasion, taste the typical gastronomic specialties of the area and attend a concert directed by maestro Domenico Bruno.
Giovinazzesi Literary Walks
Special appointment in Giovinazzo. On Sunday, October 30th a path is scheduled which, starting from the Vittorio Emanuele II Institute, will wind through the narrow streets, squares, alleys of the characteristic ancient village reaching three of the most important churches in the city. The three churches, Santa Maria degli Angeli, San Giovanni Battista, Madonna del Carmine, they are three gems of the beautiful and the sacred that the tour guide Nunzia Stufano will make you discover and in which some poets will read verses inspired by spirituality. Historical re-enactment “Arboris Belli”
On 29 and 30 October Alberobello returns to the first decades of the nineteenth century. The Rione Monti will come alive with animated stories, itinerant musical performances and costumed figures.
Scheduled Stories of stone and water, with 5 animated stories written and directed by Pasquale D’Attoma and Arturo Del Muscio, on the themes of: Woods, Rites, Communities, Food and Professions. Also on the program Costume and identity, an exhibition on folk costume by Carmelo Sumerano and Dances and popular music with musicians who will cheer the streets of the town.
At the end of the event, Sunday 30th at 9pm we gather in Largo Martellotta to celebrate together with folk dances. Free admission.
The Hypogea of the Acropolis of Taranto

Excursion to the Canale di Pirro
On the way to the Canale di Pirro. Sunday 30th October excursion into the vast karst depression located about 300 meters above sea level. Wide between 500 and 1,500 meters, it stretches for 12 kilometers between the territories of the municipalities of Putignano, Castellana Grotte, Monopoli, Alberobello, Locorotondo and Fasano. The “Puglia wine festival, the festival of wine and autumn flavorsor, in Rutigliano from Saturday 29 October to Tuesday 1 November.
