That Tom Cruise is a perfectionist is well known. One could, therefore, imagine that he also pushed his colleagues on the set to be, but now the confirmation comes from one of the actors of the sequel to Top Gun.
In an interviewMiles Teller stated that he and the other actors in the film were subjected to what he calls “Tom Cruise’s training camp”.

“We were in great shape. It is a very specific type of training, which Tom requires in order to perform even the stunts he routinely does in his movies. It’s not just about hitting the gym and lifting weights. We have done real flying lessons for three months before filming began. She really put us to the test ”.

“The public must experience what it means to be a fighter pilot”

The explanation for such a treatment comes from the makers of the first Top Gun and by Tom Cruise himself.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, for example, recalls that, of all the aerial shots made at the time with the actors inside real fighters, only a few with Cruise could be used.

The other actors felt sick or upset. Tom remembered that experience and, given his experience as a pilot, he decided that, this time, he would teach them himself“.

Cruise points out how the realism of the flight sequences it has always been central to him, both in the first film and in this sequel.

“I agreed to take part in Top Gun because I wanted to shoot the scenes inside a real F-14. I wanted to make the public understand what it meant to be a pilotand what kind of world was theirs, their culture.
So, to avoid the problems of the first film, I prepared a training program to allow the actors to be comfortable within one of those fighters. It is a very detailed program, to teach him to fly and to resist the accelerations of that type of flight ”.

Top Gun: Maverickthe director recounts the emotion for the scene with Val Kilmer

In Top Gun: Maverick another big name from the first film will return. In fact, Val Kilmer will reprise the role of pilot Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazanskyrival of Cruise’s character in the ’86 film.
For Kilmer, hit a few years ago by a throat cancer which led him to a gradual departure from the scenes, it is a return in style with one of the characters that have marked his career.
The director Joseph Kosinskiwhile not making revelations about his role, he nevertheless said that a scene with both Cruise and Kilmer characters is among his favorite moments in the film.

“It was great to have Val Kilmer back as Iceman.
Working with an actor of that caliber, being able to observe the camaraderie between him and Tom Cruiseand to be able to reunite these two characters in this sequel, it was a very special moment, one of my favorites of the whole movie“.

To deepen themes and curiosities related to cinema, the appointment is with Buio in Sala, on Saturday, from 18:30 to 20 on Radio Cusano Campus.
