Spoltore Ensemble 2022, the complete program



The fortieth edition of the Spoltore Ensemble will be held from 16 to 21 August. The important events of the festival will see the participation of artists of national caliber who will animate the arena of Largo San Giovanni, in the heart of the village. Tuesday 16th Augustfirst date, it will start with the concert Enzo Avitabile And Peppe Servillo which will acoustically retrace their most iconic pieces and those of authors to whom the artists are linked. A musical journey through a path made of emotions and knowledge of a very personal and original language that has made the two artists a reference of Italian music and beyond.


Wednesday 17 there will be the theatrical monologue written and performed by Walter Nanni “Costa discordia. Africa and emigration as they have never told you “, an extraordinary and exciting story of a journey into the heart of Senegal, through the words and testimony of the Italian actor and director who, with his usual style ironic, humorous and communicative, it tells about Africa and its migratory phenomena, dismantling a thousand clichés, with an interpretation halfway between satire and civil theater. The music is by Enrico Melozzi.


Thursday 18th August “Life, death and miracles of Bonfiglio Liborio” will be staged, a particular reading of the novel by Remo Rapino, winner of the Campiello 2020 prize, by the Ennio Flaiano Theater Company, the Fla Festival of books and other things and the Conservatory of music Alfredo Casella dell’Aquila. The show, directed by Rossella Mattioli and with music by Paolo Rosato, will be interpreted by the author Remo Rapino, by the narrating voice of the actress Rossella Mattioli and by the accordion of Dario Flammini.


Friday 19 the protagonist will be music again with the exclusive show Morgan meets Angelo Valori & Medit Orchestra. A live with one of the most appreciated and loved Italian artists and his songs, accompanied by songs by De André, Bindi, Tenco and Modugno in an exciting reinterpretation that reveals new aspects of a well-known and loved repertoire. Marco Castoldi, aka Morgan, founder and frontman of Bluvertigo, has received for his inspiration, as deep and melancholic as sweet, prestigious awards in the musical field, including the Targa Tenco – twice – the Lunezia Prize and the De André Prize. To enrich the artistic scope of the evening, Maestro Angelo Valori, composer and teacher recognized internationally, author of music performed in the main European and American cities, and Medit Orchestra, in a musical production and research project focused on new languages ​​and combined technologies to the instruments of the classical tradition, which he will add to the pop pieces of the show, the depth and stratification of the vision of classical orchestration.


Saturday 20 August there will be the concert of Tosca, Morabeza d’estate, live born from the homonymous album for which the artist in 2020 obtained two Tenco plates, which once again shows the Italian singer’s desire to experiment and her eclecticism as a careful musical researcher that allows her to wander between multiple authors and repertoires. The show, which has touched the most important theaters in Europe, from Strasbourg to Paris, from Barcelona to Lisbon, also arrives in Spoltore. Morabeza in the summer is an intimate, refined and at the same time popular melting pot, through which Tosca leads the public into the atmospheres of color and warmth of an imaginary South American living room.


Sunday 21, on the closing day of the event, on the stage of the Spoltore Ensemble the show Les enfants terribles, curated by Guardiagrele Opera. A dance chamber opera for four voices and three pianos composed in 1996 by Philip Glass and based on the novel of the same name by Jean Cocteau (Les enfants terribles, 1929).


The historic center, for the entire duration of the event, will be a Stage City with actors and musicians who will give life to various art shows through the streets of the village. Furthermore, every day of the festival, at 6 pm, you can visit the hidden Spoltore, an initiative organized by the Pro Loco Spoltore Terra dei 5 borghi, to which you can participate by going to the tourist information point in Piazza D’Albenzio.




And then “Dimore Ensemble”, an initiative organized by The colors of the territory curated by Edgardo Cotellucci and Marie Jenie Rossi, which will allow you to visit the identifying places of the city between public spaces and private residences that will be open to the public for the occasion. Finally, the historic center will be enriched with photo itineraries, three photographic exhibitions (“When there was no selfie. The village photographer, witness of time and artist” by Tonino Di Venanzio c / o Crypt Church of San Panfilo within the Walls, “I believe. Faces and Voices of spirituality” by Mauro Vitale c / o Ex Antico Forno, Via dei Calderai 37 and “Passion photography. Freedom to express oneself” by photographers Aternum c / o Municipal Library of Spoltore Via Dietro le Mura 10) organized from La Centenaria edited by Andrea Morelli and Aternum amateur photographers from Abruzzo.
