Festival Ierofanie, the soul of Sicily on stage at the Naxos Taormina Archaeological Park



The first edition of the Hierophanies Festival – The soul of Sicily, the places of the Sacred is about to begin “, a cultural review, with the artistic direction of Claudio Collovà, which will animate several places in the Naxos Taormina Archaeological Park with a rich calendar of in-depth meetings on the theme of the Sacred.


Born from an idea of ​​Fulvia Toscano and shared by Collovà himself, welcomed and supported by the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity Alberto Samonà, the Ierofanie Festival will propose the first part of the program from 28 to 31 July with a double appointment daily (always at 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm) at the Museum and at the Santurio del Parco. Free admission.


Thursday 28 July at 7.30 pm first appointment at the Museum for the start of the cycle of CustoDire la Soglia conversations, conceived and coordinated by Fulvia Toscano, animated by important personalities of the Italian scientific and cultural scene. Following at 9.30 pm at the Sanctuary of the Park will take place the artistic program characterized by a language rich in connections between different disciplines such as music, theater and poetry.


The protagonists of the first conversation will be Angelo Tonelli and Davide Susanetti with “On the traces of Greek wisdom”; followed by Roberto Latini (pictured), award-winning author, actor and director of the Italian theater, will read Mariangela Gualtieri in “The delicacy of little and nothing”, a poetic concert for solo voice in which Latini will read some of the poet’s most intense compositions Cesena.


On Friday 29 July, the Jungian analysts Riccardo Mondo and Luigi Turinese, authors of Caro Hilmann, will fuel a debate on what it means to refer to Jung’s thinking and teaching and what help archetypal psychology offers to the problems of the individual and of today’s society. At 9.30 pm Claudio Collovà will celebrate La terra desolata, a poem by TSEliot, with original music composed and played by the Waste Band of Giacco Pojero and Nino Vetri, with Giuseppe Rizzo (sound designer and live electronics), taken from his successful 2002 show , “The Waste Land Suite”.


In the first appointment on Saturday 30 Alessandro Dehò, priest and writer, and Davide Brullo, poet, essayist and translator, will present a visionary proposal collected in the volume “The new alphabet of the sacred”. This will be followed by the profound and spiritual music of Juri Camisasca, a singer-songwriter who has built an extraordinary artistic path thanks also to collaborations with the most important artists on the national scene, who will perform the concert “Mystical Meeting”.


To close the cycle of conversations will be, on Sunday 31st, Andrea Scarabelli (Antarès magazine) and Eduardo Zarelli (Grece Italia-Edizioni Arianna) who will debate on the theme “Metaphysics of ecology – The return of the ancient Gods”. Following the concert of the highly anticipated Anna Maria Hefele, one of the most important Siberian harmonic singing specialists, acclaimed all over the world for her vocal skills. The artist will be accompanied on his immersive journey into the most fascinating musical traditions from Wolf Jansha to jew’s harp, better known in Sicily as ‘harp’.




The Hierophanies Festival will dialogue, with a dedicated program, with another reference site of the cultural activity of the island, the Archaeological Park of Segesta, which will host in August (6, 7, 13, 20 and 27) some appointments, made in collaboration, featured in the Segesta Teatro Festival billboard.
