Within the Criminal Unit III of Eldorado, the Tacleando Muros project was launched a few years ago, an initiative that was born with the Espartanos Foundation (Buenos Aires) and that seeks to lower the rate of criminal recidivism and favor social inclusion through of rugby, education, work and spirituality.

With these premises, in Eldorado the squad of Los Toros was forged, the team made up of inmates from the prison that already had its experience in provincial tournaments and that has been giving very good results beyond sports, which, in this case, is clearly secondary. .

Because beyond promoting sports activities and teamwork among prisoners, the Tacleando Muros project seeks, above all things, to provide a tool for those people who are close to regaining their freedom and who need to reintegrate into the society of the best possible way.

In this context, there are several cases of inmates who completed their sentence and who, thanks to the help provided by Tacleando Muros, were able to get out of prison and get a stable job.

One of the people who actively works to make this happen is Patricio Flores, leader of the Carayá club who also participates in Tacleando Muros along with many others.

“One of the stories of this type that we had here is that of Carlos, who was imprisoned for homicide. He was an inmate who understood what rugby was like in prison, that it wasn’t just about sport, that he had to go to school, to stay away from drugs. He began to do positive things, to work inside the prison and was one of the first to get out, “Pato Flores said.

“We saw his predisposition and thanks to the YPF foundation we got him a job. Today he is a free bull. He was able to achieve that because he did things well, he changed his temperament, he improved his work side. Many in there throw themselves down because the confinement depresses them, ”explained Patricio, who took another of the inmates who regained his freedom to live in his house for a year as one more member of his family. .

Patricio points out that this first aid is fundamental because when an inmate goes out on the street again, it is very difficult for him to get people to trust him again. “There are several cases of boys who learned carpentry in prison and after they got out they continued working on it. Some are working in hotels in Puerto Iguazú”, he said.

“By being constantly with them we see the change that is generated with the work we do inside the prison. We also focus on the spiritual part. To meditate, to think about oneself and to forgive oneself. There are people that you listen to and you realize that they are ready to start again, ”he concluded.
