A little history

Since the year 2000, Kameleba has evolved into different formations and is currently made up of five members who keep roots reggae alive. Loli Folch (bassist) and Sergio Barroso (drummer) began to create songs and express their love for the rhythms of Jamaica, from their beginnings in 2000 in Villa Mercedes, province of San Luis, participating in the National Festival of La Gorra ( year 2001 – Córdoba), together with the main exponents of the genre.

That year coincides with the incorporation of the current vocalist and guitarist Jorge “Pepo” Reynoso. In 2004 they released their self-titled debut album “Kameleba”. In 2006, Cristian Gerardi joined on keyboards.

In 2007, they hit hard with their album “Sueño Que Va”, their second album. Thus, the sound loaded with influences from the greats of reggae was consolidated: Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse among others. The band continues to represent the essence of the genre that was born in the Trenchtown ghetto, in the Jamaican capital. The lyrics of their songs speak of political awareness, spirituality and particular rhythms of roots, which reflect the warmth of the sound of the island, added to genuine brushstrokes that differentiate and characterize it. With his songs, Kameleba has not only gained recognition on national stages but also throughout Latin America.

Around 2010 and after three years of waiting, they present their third album: “Vibrasound”; and two years later, “Times of Tribulation”, with cuts such as “Orillas” and “Todo lo que tú tú qué” (Everything you want). On March 27, 2015, they arrived for the first time at the Teatro Ópera, a date that coincides with a necessary break, where the members forked their paths towards new musical horizons. The present is what its current members dreamed of and the rest of the story tells itself. Kameleba keeps the flame of reggae alive.
