Zacatecas, Zac.- Within the framework of the activities corresponding to the celebration of the 105th anniversary of the Viceregal Museum of Guadalupe, the Secretary of Tourism of the State Government and the Municipality of Guadalupe, in coordination with the National Institute of Anthropology and History and the Secretary of Culture of the Federal Government, announced the exhibition of the work called ‘The Goddess of Rembrandt’s House, Pallas Athena’.

This is the first exhibition of international stature that arrives at the Viceroyalty Museum of Guadalupe, and which consists of 5 pieces, among them, one of the representative canvases of Dutch chiaroscuro: Pallas Athena, whose author Rembrandt Hamerzoon Van Rijin, was one of the most important exponents of the European Baroque.

Le Roy Barragán, Secretary of Tourism of the Government of the State of Zacatecas, highlighted the importance of this announcement by pointing out that “it fills us with joy that one of Rembrandt’s great works arrives in Guadalupe in a room designed for it, it fills us with pride that, for the first time in history, the works of one of the greatest painters that the world has given, be exhibited in the Viceregal Museum of Guadalupe”.

For his part, the municipal president of Guadalupe, Julio César Chávez Padilla, highlighted the quality of the exhibitions and activities that take place in the Virreinal Museum, however, he said he was flattered by this new great exhibition that will be presented from next Thursday, October 6 at 6 o’clock in the afternoon.

“Rembrandt is one of the ancient artists who stands out at all stages of his life and who became known for his works in which he represents landscapes, portraits, historical themes, allegories and even spirituality,” said the mayor.

Likewise, he pointed out, his work captures a reality that lasts for posterity and in each one there are details that transcended, “that is why the cultural and artistic importance of this type of exhibitions”, pointed out Chávez Padilla

The mayor of Guadalupe also mentioned that the Municipality of Guadalupe is prepared in terms of providing services, for people who wish to visit the municipality and, derived from the tourist attraction that this type of exhibition implies.

Using her voice, Rosa María Franco, Director of the Viceregal Museum of Guadalupe, added to the excitement of the announcement and stressed that “we are convinced of the great impact that this exhibition will have, which will be from Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. tomorrow at 6 in the afternoon, and admission will be completely free”, he also acknowledged that there is full conviction that culture is a great contribution to the culture of peace.

During the period that the exhibition lasts, which is planned to be until the first week of February 2023, complementary activities will be carried out, such as workshops, concerts, guided tours and different actions that allow visitors to have a significant experience in the Viceregal Museum of Guadalupe, in addition to being a strategy that contributes to the reactivation of cultural tourism, not only for the Municipality of Guadalupe, cataloged as one of the most beautiful Magical Towns in the country, but also for the State of Zacatecas.
