CARIATI – Le bagpipes play again among the alleys of the fortified citadel; the perimeter of the eight towers on the Ionian welcomes and gathers families around the Tree in the Square, for the lighting of those lights that symbolically kick off the Festivities. This is the atmosphere that reigns in Cariati these days where Christmas becomes Mediterranean.
To express satisfaction for the participation of the world of associations in the construction of the socio-cultural programming of the holidays is the Mayor Filomena Greco who takes the opportunity to thank those who have become and will become protagonists of the events that will be hosted between the historic center and the marina throughout the month of December and until Epiphany.
Since the opening of the Santa Claus Village, organized by the Karis Association which in Piazza Rocco Trento, has attracted many children and will remain usable until 7 January; to the crib inaugurated in the same square by Don Gino Esposito; from the gospel concert for the Mediterranean Christmas, hosted in the Cathedral, to the twentieth century nativity scenes in the streets and alleys of the citadel.
After the success of last year, in fact, the parish priest Don Luigi Esposito has decided to create the second edition of the living nativity scene “Welcome to Bethlehem” which this year is enriched with many characters and new scenes and which will see an even larger part of the beautiful medieval village of Cariati transformed into the evocative streets of Bethlehem and the magical crib scene.
There are many volunteers at work to create everything with the utmost care: from the scenography to the choice of characters, from the costumes and background music which, in piped music, will accompany the visitors in this dive into history, spirituality and faith.
We just have to wait for this second edition of “Welcome to Bethlehem” on December 25th from 7pm onwards in the historic center of Cariati.

Saturday 10 – The Rotte Mediterranee markets
It starts at 15:00 with the stands that will be set up in Via Bari and Via Matteotti. At 3.30 pm entertainment and animation will be aimed at the little ones with make-up, soap bubbles, baby dance, mascots and juggling. The performance will follow at 16:00 Pilusa Zazza Band through the streets of the markets and the opening of the Santa Claus House. The evening will end with the Fast Years Band who will perform at 21:30.
Sunday 11th – Juggling and soap bubbles in via Bari and via Matteotti
From 10:00 the itinerant animation of the Banda Pilusa Zazzà will return to the markets of Rotte Mediterranee, in Via Bari and Via Matteotti. At 11:00 and 17:00 will be held the juggling and fire show with Ciccio Panza. At 12:00 and 18:00 the soap bubble show will take place Don’t break my bubbles with Pascal Slava. At 15:00 there will be a concert by the Ottopiù Street Band.
Thursday 15th – The Lilt Association will arrange one Christmas raffle.
Sunday 25 – On Christmas day, the Parish of San Michele Arcangelo will stage the Living Nativity from the theme “Welcome to Bethlehem”. The appointment will be at 19:00 in the historical centre.
Thursday 29 – A Christmas Carol by the Association Aps Art and Entertainment in the Ciccopiedi it is the Christmas Carol with which the socio-cultural Christmas programming will end in Piazza Plebiscito.
