Adobe unveils the major creative trends of 2023!

Adobe takes stock of the visual trends that will mark the year 2023! Emerging themes, fashionable aesthetics, best campaigns, renowned creations, everyday projects… Everything is in the new edition Creative Trends 2023 by Adobe Stock, like every year for six years now. What should be remembered? Four major creative trends in visuals, design, and animation stand out! They will have a major influence on the content produced in photography, video and creative writing on social media, blogs and elsewhere. Note that these new emerging themes should guide how the creator economy – which today has 303 million members worldwide – will draw inspiration to produce digital content that resonates with audiences in 2023.

“At the end of a period marked by many uncertainties, we need content, both familiar and new, which also arouses emotion through authentic, inclusive and unfiltered experiences”says Brenda Milis, Principal of Consumer and Creative Insights at Adobe. “These trends are indicative of how creators envision and shape our world, and use their networks to share content that is true to their style, with the goal of bringing happiness to people everywhere. »

What are the famous trends to know?

1. A psychedelic wave

The post-pandemic trend has prioritized topics related to mental health and well-being, resulting in new ways to explore spirituality, nature and well-being. With 46% of Gen Z reporting being anxious and stressed, this trend suggests a psychedelic visual atmosphere through soothing gradients and vibrant colors. This new trend is all about creative authenticity as an outlet for expression, including escapism from reality, through psychedelic gradients, vibrant colors, and an aesthetic that involves an indistinct view of the elements.

2. The real is radical

To combat overly perfectionist content, this trend celebrates the reality of candid and unvarnished moments, experiences, and realities. Brands are embracing campaigns that feature people of all genders, ages, and sizes with a focus on authentic moments. According to the recent Pinterest report on body neutrality, 36% of searches relate to the subject ” I love myself “ and 32% on the theme “How to be more confident”. A trend that is proudly displayed on social networks, in brand campaigns and in new successful apps like BeReal and Locket. Whether rebellious, aggressive, provocative or deeply vulnerable, visuals tied to this trend create powerful bonds and inspire a sense of community.

3. The return of retro

Inspired by GenZ designers evolving and experimenting with popular aesthetics from before they were born, the retro trend focuses on exploring vintage styles and modernizing them. Like Gen Z, designers from Millennials and X are exploring this resurgence, finding solace and familiarity in creative styles from the 90s and 2000s, such as retro skateboarding scenes, candy-colored fashion, ghettoblasters and video game controllers. Although GenZ creators have an influence on the development of these trends, Millennials still represent a large part of the creator economy (indeed, they represent 42% of this economy).

4. Animals and influencers: going virtual

This whimsical theme appeals to consumers’ affection and engagement with charming and lovable creatures and characters. Whether it’s a real-life furry friend or a charming anime avatar, charismatic creatures have proven to be powerful tools for attracting and retaining consumer interest and engagement. As a result, this trend is heavily used by brands across all industries in the form of anime, illustrations, photography, and 3D renderings.

The sentiments conveyed by this trend refer to what consumers and creators are looking for, namely happiness and positivity. Over the past two years, global anime demand has increased by 118%. As virtual influencers generate three times more engagement than humans (for consumers they are trustworthy and more endearing), brands use them through advertising.
