The television communication of the Diocese is renewed

Closed Chiesa Tv, the contents pass on Telenova (channel 18) and are expanded thanks to the collaboration with Multimedia San Paolo: celebrations, comments and information spaces. With the new digital terrestrial, higher quality and wider coverage of the territory. YouTube also enhanced

The Church has always seized the opportunities provided by social communication tools to proclaim the Gospel and promote good communication. The choices made by the Archdiocese of Milan in the area of television communication are also placed in this spirit, which will see some important innovations in the coming days.

On Telenova (channel 18)

With the possibilities provided by the new generation digital terrestrial television (DVB-T2), renewing the close collaboration already in place with Multimedia San Paolo, starting from Monday 7 March some of the contents previously broadcast by ChiesaTv – channel of the same Paolini that will end the as it is not possible to bring it to the new platform – they will be integrated into the schedule of Telenova (channel 18), a broadcaster broadcast throughout Lombardy and eastern Piedmont. New information spaces and new celebrations will also be introduced.

Thus, on Telenova it will be possible to live live – thanks to the collaboration with Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo – the Mass from the Cathedral (weekdays at 8 from Monday to Friday and holidays at 9.30 on Sunday), followed by the commentary on the Gospel of the day in the Ambrosian rite. Every Thursday at 6.30 pm the weekly broadcast “The Church in the City”, which starting from next week will have a new theme song and a new virtual set.

The “strip” and the direct

To these programs will be added a daily strip of a few minutes, “The Church in the City Today”, to tell the life of the Diocese day by day, broadcast from Monday to Friday at the end of the 19.15 news program, and – live – the main celebrations presided over by the Archbishop in the Cathedral in the most important liturgical moments of the year (Advent, Christmas, Easter Triduum, Pentecost…). These celebrations will be introduced by a journalistic commentary that will allow spectators to participate more consciously, albeit at a distance, in the functions.

All the celebrations and information spaces organized by the Diocese and broadcast on Telenova will be made easily recognizable by a special logo. In agreement with Multimedia San Paolo (and with the collaboration of Itl for the production), 18 docufilms, specials, interviews, etc. will then be broadcast on the channel.

Better quality

The technical transition linked to the new transmission system will allow a notable progress in image quality (from now on in FullHD) and a capillary coverage of the diocesan territory, and beyond.

But the renewal of diocesan video communication does not end here. Consistent with the digital evolution that allows an increasingly differentiated and personalized use of contents, the Archdiocese is proceeding with the strengthening and reorganization of its YouTube channels (ChiesadiMilano, which now has almost 40,000 subscribers, and Liturgia Ambrosiana) within of which journalistic insights will be curated and broadcast in streaming many other diocesan events.
