Pellare

SKIN. After two years of stasis due to the pandemic, the Week of Spirituality and Culture returns with “50 Times Thanks”, a special edition to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the priestly ordination of don Angelo Imbriaco, parish priest of Pellare (hamlet of Moio della Civitella) and Cardile (fraction of Gioi). Divided into six evenings, given the exceptional nature of the event, the Week of Spirituality and Culture 2022 – now in its twelfth edition – will take place in the two parishes where the parish priest provides priestly service: on 12, 13, 14, 15 and 18 July in Pellare and on July 16 in Cardile.

“50 Times Thank You”, an explanatory title chosen for the special edition of the Week of Spirituality and Culture – conceived by the parish priest of Pellare and Cardile himself -, which well reflects the feeling of gratitude for the achievement of such an important anniversary.

In this regard, the most heartfelt moment of the entire event will be the Solemn Eucharistic Concelebration of the 50th anniversary of the priesthood. In Pellare, the Holy Mass will be presided over by Don Angelo Imbriaco, on July 15, in the Parish Church (7.30 pm). Here the songs will be performed by the choir “Oris Valletta”. Following, the celebrations in Piazza degli Eroi and the concert by Maestro Angelo Loia (9.00 pm). In Cardile, on July 16 (19:00) HE Mons. Ciro Miniero will preside over the Solemn Concelebration with Confirmation. The celebrations will follow in Piazza A. D’Aiuto (9.30 pm).

Two books written by Don Angelo Imbriaco will be presented during the cultural review. Specifically, on 12 July (at 22:00, in Pellare in Piazza degli Eroi) the following will be presented: “The Franciscan Convent of Pellare”. A round table will follow. Also in Pellare, on July 14 (10:30 pm), space will be given to the memory of Don Angelo Imbriaco’s 50 years of priestly ordination with the book: “50 Times Thanks”. An evening dedicated to memories, interspersed with musical moments thanks to the presence of the historic group “I Sons of Bacchus” and the young Pellarese singer-songwriter, Walter Valletta.

On 18 July (at 22:00, Pellare), the biography concerning the figure of Fr. Egidio Merola – friar minor conventual for which the diocesan Tribunal of Nardò-Gallipoli, on 30 April 2021, gave the go-ahead will also be presented. to the cause of beatification and canonization -, born in Barra di Napoli (1 May 1906) to parents both from Pellara. The conclusions will be entrusted to HE Mons. Ciro Miniero, bishop of Vallo della Lucania.

Finally, to keep faith with the commitment assumed at the end of the last edition of the Week of Spirituality and Culture (2019), on the evening of July 13, the music CD “A Suon di … Musica – Tribute to the historic Band of Pellare” will be presented, of “La Grande Banda del Cilento”, directed by Maestro Nicola Pellegrino. A discographic product born from the research work carried out by Don Angelo Imbriaco concerning the ancient Pellare musical band (in activity between 1880 and 1945 approximately) directed by the Masters Elia Guarino, Giuseppe Ferrante and Oris Valletta. The concert of “La Grande Banda del Cilento” will follow.

A moment of celebration, of memories and reflections, thanks to a program of depth that includes – only in a minimal part – the journey made by Don Angelo Imbriaco during the 50 years of his priestly life and beyond.
