The attraction of the invisible

The day of the Lord continues its summer program “Contemplate and act” with the documentary The attraction of the invisible, in which the greatest researchers, astronomers and astronauts who have had the dizzying experience of space wonder about the origin and mysteries of the Universe. With dazzling images of interstellar space, this film offers us a suspended moment and informs us about the relationship between science and faith through the most recent scientific discoveries. The mass is then celebrated in the open air, live from the forecourt of the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption church in Étretat (Seine-Maritime).

10:00 a.m. Documentary – Collection “Contemplate and Act”

The attraction of the invisible (26′) by Jean-Yves Fischbach
How can science deepen both the mystery of the universe and the mystery of God? In this film, Jean-Yves Fischbach gives voice to astronauts and great Christian astronomers in search of God in space. Among them, there is in particular Jacques Arnould, researcher at the CNRS, and the astronauts Claudie Haigneré and Jean-François Clervoy. They testify to this existential, almost mystical experience, made in contact with space and its marvelous discovery. Punctuated by fascinating images of constellations, stars, distant galaxies and our Earth seen from space, this film offers a sumptuous journey, intellectual and spiritual, in the cosmos. An invitation to contemplate the beauty of the universe to question the origin of its creation.
