NAPLES. AT THE DUOMO “NOTES OF BEAUTY TO TELL A PRODIGY”

NAPLES – It says “Notes of beauty to tell a prodigy” reads exclusive event, conceived by the artist Mauro Maurizio Palumbo, which will take shape in the Cathedral of Naples, December 8, starting at 19.30.

A site specific project for the Cathedral Church of Naples, to live the Advent season in an innovative way, with a contemporary spirituality, which helps to rediscover the social function of the Church.

The event, based on the figure of the Virgin Mary, on the occasion of the liturgical feast of the Immaculate Conception, foresees the participation of 7 young artists who, through the various languages ​​of art, will propose passages taken from the Holy Scriptures. Among prose, song, dance, music and painting, we will start with the soprano Ilaria Tucci, who will propose an ad hoc medley, followed by a moment of prose and readings dedicated to the life of the Virgin, interpreted by the actor Mauro Racanati, protagonist, among the other, from the soap “A place in the sun”, accompanied by the violinist Ledia Nikolla. And, again, a performative action by the Neapolitan playwright Martina Zaccaro, who will propose an unpublished writing in honor of the Madonna. With her, the dancer Sabrina Santoro, who interpreting a woman of faith of our times, will unveil the new monumental nativity scene of the Cathedral Church, strongly desired by the parish priest Don Vittorio Sommella and created by Maestro Guglielmo Muoio, in the Neapolitan 18th century style, with figures full size. A large canvas will then be painted by Federica Amuro and Simone Talpa, young artists from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and will represent the woman dressed in the sun announced in the Apocalypse. “The event is free – explains the parish priest who promotes the project – but, from the point of view of evangelical cooperation with a return on the social and territorial fabric, if desired, one can contribute with a free donation. The proceeds, which will be declared publicly, will be donated to the creation of a sign work by Archbishop Don Mimmo Battaglia scheduled for the diocesan Synod”. “Notes of beauty to tell a prodigy” – continues Don Vittorio Sommella -, is the leading event from which various collateral events will branch out to the liturgical celebrations of the Christmas period. In fact, under the name of “Cathedral at Christmas”, we want to bring together the events that for continuity and innovation are foreseen in the Duomo’s programming”.

Among these: representation of Renaissance dances and concert of ancient music, proposed by the Sedili association of Naples; living nativity scene with period costumes created by the “Isabella d’Este” institute; lunch for the homeless, in collaboration with the diocesan Caritas and the Istituto d’Este; concert of the singers of Posillipo.

Furthermore, at the end of the holidays, an “event” for Epiphany day is planned, with a playful-creative workshop on the theme of giving, dedicated to the children of the city.

On the other hand, the previous week, gifts will be collected to be allocated on the 5th to the parish of a complex reality on the outskirts of Naples.

Again as part of the project for social welfare and for the needy of the city, starting from Sunday 4 December, the Advent Chapel of the Fraternity will be set up: with a collection of food and offerings in the Seripando Chapel, the only one that preserves the Angevin system visible from inside. After Christmas, the same place will be transformed into a collection point for Epiphany gifts.
