December 10. Ibrahim Maalouf at the ferry

Is it still really necessary to present Ibrahim Maalouf? Adopting the quarter-tone Arabic trumpet invented by his father in the 1960s, he revived this neglected instrument and was able to draw on its roots to develop a unique musical style. Fifteen albums, four Victoires de la Musique and a César later, the Franco-Lebanese musician is today one of the most popular artists on the French music scene and the only trumpeter to have filled the former largest hall. of France (Bercy, in 2016).

Funky bass line, hip-pop rhythm and jazz orchestration: his musical explorations with the Brazilian singer Flavia Coelho or the Lyonnais DJ Tony Romera herald a festive multicultural album that will make concert halls bubble. Starting with the Transbo in December.

In concert on Saturday December 10 from 7:30 p.m. at the Transbordeur in Villeurbanne.
Prices. 34 euros.

December 13. Isabelle Boulay sings Edith Piaf

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Edith Piaf’s death, the Orchester symphonique Confluences accompanies singer Isabelle Boulay with original symphonic arrangements by Nobuyuki Nakajima.

The Quebecer will cover the most beautiful songs of the French icon who made us see life in pink. A major challenge for the one who will have to put her powerful voice on the titles Milord, The crowd, The man on the motorbike and so many other classics. We let ourselves be carried away for a concert of which we will not regret anything.

Confluences Symphony Orchestra. Tuesday December 13 at 8 p.m. at the 3000 amphitheater, Lyon 6e.
Prices. From 29 euros.

Behind each person leaning on the counter, there is a story and anecdotes. Between the scenes of the kitchen, the terrible adventure of Malibu and the bottle that was never drunk, take a seat in a setting that lends itself wonderfully well to the exercise. The actors of the troop of 13e Cri evolve around the public, in an improvisation show that promises as much poilade as emotions.

Broadway not enough for you? Want more musicals? Do you know Maurice Yvain? The composer of the Belle Époque and adapted for the big screen by Alain Resnais has been on the bill at the only truly musical theater in the metropolis, since the Croix-Rousse chose to hang up the biniou.

Yes! was conceived as an antidote in the midst of the First World War, mixing the songs of which Monsieur Maurice has the secret to the class struggle, passing through winks to London, capital of the musical. A tycoon, a cocotte, a femme fatale and a music hall servant mingle in a matrimonial plot in full exotic delirium, “in a false frivolity and a real ferocity”. Everything we love. Well, let’s dance now!

Yes! Musical comedy by Maurice Yvain. Directed by Vladislav Galard, Bogdan Hatisi. Musical direction and piano: Paul-Marie Barbier.
From Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 December at 8 p.m. at the Théâtre de La Renaissance in Oullins.
Prices. From 16 to 26 euros.

Until December 24. Penone does his outing

Giuseppe Penone at La Tourette

For Giuseppe Penone, also exhibited at the Center Pompidou, if the forest represents a cathedral, the convent of La Tourette by Le Corbusier, although downright concrete, evokes a tree. The piles would be the roots, the body of the building, the trunk, and the light windows, the leaves. The Italian artist, one of the major protagonists ofarte poveraimmersed himself in the structure and its monastic activity to produce a series of diverse, remarkable works, distributed in its rooms and corridors.

Giuseppe Penone casually thumbs his nose at the concrete radicalism of Le Corbusier, reintroducing nature and humility where the architect had neither shown them nor probably considered them. Not only do these “paintings”, or rather this collection of prints, provide a feeling of soothing aesthetics, but also a facetious mise-en-abîme. The spirituality, revealed for the first time, of the artist born in 1947, is also one of the elements of this essential exhibition.

Giuseppe Penone at La Tourette.
Until December 24, 2022 at the Tourette convent, Éveux (69).
Prices. Free visit: 10 euros. Guided tour: 12 euros.

Daphnée Capaces, Julien Duc, Luc Hernandez and François Mailhes
