Campania: extraordinary openings by night (free admission)

A weekend dedicated to culture and entertainment. From Friday 7 to Sunday 9 October the 2022 edition of Campania By Night makes its entrance in some of the most evocative cultural places of the Campania region with music, guided tours and author meetings.

The intense weekend of the review of extraordinary night openings planned and financed by the Campania Region (Poc 2014-2020) and organized and promoted by Scabec, Società Campana Beni Culturali kicks off from the Archaeological Park of Pompeii.

On Friday 7 October, at 7.00 pm, the North Portico of the Great Palestra of the Pompeii Excavations will host the last appointment of the “Cultural Palestra”.

The closing of the cycle of events is entrusted to “Pompeii for Ukraine. A letter from the front ”, a review of filmic works and moving images by contemporary artists from Ukraine, originally commissioned and produced by the Castello di Rivoli after the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The program is curated by Nikita Kadan, born in 1982 who lives and works in Kiev, with Giulia Colletti, curator of digital projects and for the public of the Castello di Rivoli.

Still on Friday 7 October, at 5.00 pm, you can take part in free walks to admire the Abbey of Goleto (AV), a place of prayer, spirituality and hospitality whose construction dates back to 1133 by Guglielmo da Vercelli , patron saint of Irpinia.

Afterwards, around 7.00 pm, the Cantori di Posillipo will perform in “La Canzone Napoletana. History, passion and music of a city ”, directed by maestro Gaetano Raiola.

A musical story of the evolution of the Neapolitan song by great authors such as Salvatore di Giacomo, Libero Bovio, Ferdinando Russo, Salvatore Gambardella and even the famous Gioacchino Rossini, who wanted to dedicate to the city that so warmly celebrated his opera music, dance which represented the life of a people or La Tarantella.

On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October, the Free D’Orsi Archaeological Museum in Castellammare di Stabia will host the theatrical visit “Where is Stabia? Dream journey in the rooms of the Libero D’Orsi Museum ”curated by Collettivo LaCorsa, an event to be held in two shifts at 7pm and 8pm.

An initiative aimed at discovering the figure of Libero D’Orsi, an archeologist from Stabia who was responsible for the discovery of the finds that can be admired in the museum of the same name.

A show interpreted in a dreamlike key that will lead the viewer to a timeless place where the stucco Narcissus will come to life and body to finally be able to tell his story with his voice. A fairy tale that allows you to get lost, search and finally find yourself.

Finally, Sunday 9 October, the long weekend of Campania By Night will end at the archaeological site of Oplontis – Villa di Poppea with the show “Memories of Oplontis” by the ShowLab Association.

During three tour visits that will start at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm it will be possible to get to know all the timeless beauty of the ancient villa thanks to a fascinating theatrical journey put in place by musicians and actors.

Relying on an expert guide and a smartphone App that will act as a map, in fact, it will be possible to learn about the history that lies behind the immense and labyrinthine structure through the performances of artists that can be admired in some rooms such as the Tablinium, the swimming pool and the Viridarium.

The events are free with reservations required on the website; the reservation will expire 15 minutes before the start of the event.
