“Starting from a personalization of the film with the competition in which he participates, the director enjoys dialoguing with the viewer through the superimposed texts, implementing an interactive game in which the spectators can not help but participate”. With this motivation “Work it Class!” by Pol Diggler wins the Best Short Film Award at the 15th edition of State aKorti – Comic-humorous short film festival.
Also highly appreciated by a packed room, immersed in the gardens of the Terra di Bò (Villa Di Bella, Viagrande), which, as explained by the motivation for the award, let itself be drawn into the metacinematographic game created by the director, “Work it Class!” beat the other 12 short films in competition. The jury chaired (at a distance, due to Covid) by the journalist and critic Nello Pappalardo also wanted to assign a Special Mention to “Cuckoo!” by Jörgen Scholtens, with the following motivation: “Very surreal in her system, the human cuckoo of an old watchmaker marks the times that an elderly lady must respect for the effectiveness of her therapy … but something intervenes to complicate things” . The special Legambiente Prize, on the other hand, is awarded to “Don Gino”: “Legambiente, always attentive to the issue of social inclusion, votes Don Gino as the best short because it sets itself in a desecrating way towards such a backward and reactionary issue, as the ‘homosexuality in the mafia “
Testimonial of the Festival, the actress Lucia Sardo, interviewed in the morning of the Festival by Michele Cucuzza on Antenna Sicilia, who received the highest honor of the Festival, the plant inside the Botanical Garden, the “Hollywood Boulevard of Sicily” where the the most important Sicilian artists and personalities in the world of culture are represented by a plant (instead of the famous cement tile with the name set in a star). Lucia Sardo has chosen to be represented by the Arabian jasmine, the sambac, for the wonderful perfume of her.
