Todi partner of the “Vie di Francesco” project

The event, between history and digital, will see the former Monastery of Lucrezie as protagonist. The goal is the inclusion in the European Cultural Itinerary

Todi, 12 October 2022 – The event of the “Days at the Convent” arrives in Todi: on 22 and 23 October, the convent of Lucrezie and the village of Izzalini will host the event organized, in collaboration with the Municipality, by the Francesco’s Consortium Ways, as part of the actions envisaged by the project funded by the regional call for support to the development of complementary products and services for the enhancement of identified cultural and natural attractions of the territory, also through the integration between companies in the cultural, creative and entertainment sectors .

The project aims to enhance some cultural attractions of the region, in particular the former Convent of San Francesco in Acquasparta and precisely the Complex of Lucrezie in Todi, through a series of initiatives aimed at research, dissemination and promotion of historical and artistic roots of the Franciscan monasteries of Umbria.

To this end, in recent months, in collaboration with the La Sapienza University of Rome, which has made available some doctoral students, a historical research on the birth and development of these places of spirituality, analyzing in particular the activities that were carried out in these places since the Middle Ages by the friars and nuns who lived there.
The event “Days at the Convent” in Todi will have as its main theme the female figures in the Middle Ages and the particular social role that some of them had in the economy of some villages in Umbria.
The project is also connected to the international initiative of the Saint Francis ‘Ways Association for the certification of the St Francis’ Ways as a European Cultural Itinerary, which is creating virtual itineraries that connect on a continental level and also in the Holy Land the places linked by the Franciscan presence and to their cultural and scientific “legacy”.

“The city of Todi – highlights the Mayor Antonino Ruggiano – is also confirmed with this initiative at the center of innovative actions for the enhancement and promotion of its historical and cultural heritage, all the more important because it is connected to international projects that can only increase foreign presences in the Todi area. On the use of digital and augmented reality for tourist use – concludes the Mayor – the Municipality is already working on other fronts, in the belief that they can represent an added value for the city reality “.

The “Days at the Convent” event will open on Saturday 22 October with a press conference in which the results of the research activities and the transformation of content into a communication product, in the form of storytelling, through digital technologies will be presented. This will be followed by a conference in which the technology created by Euromedia will be presented. Between Saturday and Sunday there will be meetings, walks, vernissages and show cooking with a very rich and varied program.

The events are all free with reservations required, the market exhibition, with free access from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 15.30 to 18.30.
