The Romanian community is one of the largest in the city: there is now a counter in the Municipality to support it

A help desk and social support managed and for the Romanian community. It is the one that was inaugurated this morning by the municipal councilor for social associations Nicoletta Di Niso, the vice president of the municipal council Berardino Fiorilli who promoted the initiative and the president of the Romanian volunteer association Abruzzo Marian Balan.

The desk is located on the ground floor of Palazzo di Città and, through the association, will provide material and educational support to Romanian families, minors and elderly people who are disadvantaged or in difficult conditions, guaranteeing help in social, legal, psychological, fiscal matters. administrative, scholastic and educational with the aim of promoting the protection of rights and therefore the integration of Romanians into Italian society. “In short – explains Balan – it will be a point of reference against all forms of marginalization and discrimination. In fact, the Romanians of Pescara and Abruzzo account for almost 30 per cent of the entire share of human capital not of Italian origin, so it seemed important to us to achieve the objective that we present today and which, among other things, will allow us to hire initiatives to promote the culture, spirituality and traditions of our people. I thank the Pescara administration for their sensitivity and for having supported this new structure ”, he adds.

A very large community, therefore, integrated into the social and professional fabric of the city, but still with people who still have many difficulties in accessing the services and opportunities offered by the public system for those who are entitled to: hence the idea of the counter that also represents an instrument of intercultural dialogue. “We have always worked in this direction – underlines Di Nisio – So we can really make a difference, because helping those sections of the community who are not of Italian origin, regardless of the country they come from, unites and motivates everyone to accept our rules and our culture. This is Pescara that we like, and it is for this reason that I thank the association that will manage the desk to which I say that the Municipality exists today and will also be there in the future ”.

For Fiorilli, that promoted is “a very important initiative because this service will be available to all citizens, not only Romanians or non-EU citizens, not only for the citizenship process or other aspects in the context of demographic services, but also for example to take a job; in all those cases in which there will be a need for support, this counter will be active. The basic objective remains that of integration – concludes the vice president of the city council -: a word that many fill their mouths without meaning, these instead are concrete and visible actions. I want to underline that in Pescara there is a large community of Romanian Catholics who have their own parish and who, indeed, also carry out solidarity actions in the city. For difficult cases, however, there is this opportunity that we must greet with favor “.
