The 21st edition of Scarpia starts with a conference by Ramsés Torres

The Scarpia festival has “officially” started its 21st edition this Monday with a lecture by art historian Ramsés Torres at the Municipal Theater, where he was accompanied by the mayoress of El Carpio, Desirée Benavides (PSOE), and the curator of this event, Jesús Zurita.

In this new edition Scarpia once again has the plastic arts as its backbone, paying special attention to the spiritual nature of visual language. During the conference, artists who work in different ways on the issue of the spiritual will be cited, from a broad, diverse and diffuse vision, closer to poetic evocation than to closed narrative. Configuring the edition as a space to contemplate and reflect on the validity of the spiritual in contemporary art.

Manuel León has been in charge of making the poster for the festival, which in itself is an intervention, since the poster, beyond being an advertising element for something, is projected as an artistic intervention that will occupy the infinite frontiers offered by the networks. social to spread it.

After the presentation, the three programmed exhibitions have been inaugurated, Grass cathedrals, empty pools, maneuvers in the darkby Íñigo Navarro in the Garci Méndez Tower; waste gardenby Julia Santa Olalla in the Casa del Alcaide and damn phoenix, by José Manuel López Vidal in the Historical Museum. Muralism and workshops

The samples will be complemented by the intervention of the Barcelona muralist Iván Floro, carrying out a painting that will reflect on spirituality through elements that are part of popular religiosity.

In the training section, once again being an essential point in the conferences, we continue to bet on reaching different audiences sensitivity to the sublime through plasticity. There are three workshops offered in this edition; landscape, spirit, art“by the prestigious painter Daniel Franca, who will direct a landscape course focused on the industrial environment of the municipality; From Within: Spirituality Taught by Lola Rodríguez and Miguel Romero for the elderly and the children’s workshop Once upon a time…art Directed by Juan Alcalá.

The aim is, therefore, to build a multidisciplinary cultural space, whose objective is to offer a diverse vision of artistic creation with a certain spiritual component, based on the works of the different artists present in the edition.
