“Becomes That Girl con me» is one of the invitations that, in recent months, thousands of influencers have accompanied their social videos. But what does it mean That Girl? It is one of the many aesthetics that have taken hold on TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube, and which, like each of them, encompasses every aspect of life to – potentially – exhibit with your followers, including fashion. The fulcrum of this current has to do with productivity, starting from an apparently contrasting theme: the self care.
That Girl she is the girl who gets up early in the morning, ideally not after 6, and has an unbreakable routine made primarily of movement – usually yoga or pilates – a healthy drink such as matcha tea or a vitamin extract, personal hygiene accompanied by skincare perfect, and a house maniacally kept in order.
The self improvementstarting from small and large daily rituals, is the key to everything, and translates into one rather minimalist personal stylemade of coordinated sets ideal both for a walk and for a lunch in the centre, and simple accessories yes, but which loudly say how much they cost. As well as the beauty products they use – and show – in their videos.
Fashion is a language, but it is also a complex system which in turn possesses one that is constantly evolving. Every week we analyze a different term, evergreen or brand new, of the fashion dimension: today, we decrypt the term cheugy
The most interesting side of this aesthetic is that apparently effortlessfrom who wears white and neutral colors – with rare chromatic exceptions – as if not wanting to attach great importance to one’s wardrobe: after all, combining these items with each other is quick and easy, and doesn’t require a great deal of effort every morning. However, from the attention to the fabrics to the favorite brands, it is clear how everything is orchestrated to postpone a very precise – above all social – image.
Like any aesthetic, regardless of what that means – in this case That Girl – specifically, it is interesting to note that the fashion is a sounding board also fundamental for all those sectors of life, from nutrition to spirituality, which represent the values of the person. And while it may be, in many ways, an inspiration, That Girl it also presents potential risks in the social age: romanticizing one’s life can in fact help to motivate oneself towards a more balanced routine, but it can also easily lead to toxic behavior, i.e. the obsessive search for a standard of perfection unattainable. Which, as you can well imagine, has very little to say goodbye to. In the gallery, some of the garments and accessories typical of this aesthetic.
