Strettule, the paths of Postiglionese taste

Three days of events in the province of Salerno with the aim of making known the excellence of Postiglione

Making the food and wine, tourism and entrepreneurial excellence of Postiglione and the Alburni Dolomites known throughout the world, transforming the village into an opportunity for economic and social development”. The mayor of the Municipality of Postiglione, Carmine Cennamo, has no doubts about the objective and the spirit with which the municipal administration, together with the parish, the Youth Forum and local entrepreneurs, have given life to the food and wine event: “Strettule, the paths of Postiglionese taste”.

Strettule, Postiglionese dialectal name with which the alleys of the ancient village are defined, is a three-day event dedicated to food and wine, folklore and spirituality, which will take place from 16 to 18 December 2022 in the historic center of Postiglione, in the Salerno area. The event, organized by the Municipality of Postiglione, in collaboration with the parish oratory Maria SS. del Carmelo, and with the patronage of the Province of Salerno and the Campania Region, will see the suggestive village of the historic center of Postiglione revive with a journey of flavours, ancient traditions, colors and music, which will enhance the EVO oil and the typical food and wine products of Postiglione , without neglecting the history and spirituality of the sapwood people.

A weekend full of food and wine and cultural events, dedicated to the protection of the territory, healthiness with the exaltation of the tasty and ancient typical local dishes made with foods that represent the intangible heritage of the Mediterranean Diet and moments of fun.

To kick off the event, Friday 16 December at 18.00, the conference to be held in the hall of the parish oratory “Maria SS del Carmelo” in Postiglione, entitled Extra virgin olive oil and typical local products, nutrition and health in the countries of the Mediterranean diet. At the conference which will be introduced and moderated by the journalist from Salerno, Maria Teresa Contethe mayor of the Municipality of Postiglione will take part, Carmine Cennamothe parish priest of Postiglione, Don Martin De Pasqualethe president of the Province of Salerno, Franco Alfierithe Regional Councilor and President of the Cilento Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, Thomas Pellegrinothe councilor for agriculture and forestation of the Campania Region, Nicholas Caputoand the nutritionist Marzia Manilia. Furthermore, among the speakers at the conference, some representatives of the world of excellence of local entrepreneurship in the wine, meat, olive growing, butchery, beekeeping, pastry, delicatessen and liqueur industries: Giuseppe Caputo, Ciro Macellaro, Enrico Foti, Ecle Pacella, Gerardo Marcigliano, Daniele Marcigliano, Lorenza Arena, Silvio Forlano And Nicoletta Onnembo.

At 7.30 pm the ribbon cutting will follow for the food and wine itinerary which will be inaugurated in the presence of the Authorities. Path where there will be games and entertainment for adults and children such as Santa’s house, street artists, Christmas markets, musicians and dancers.

The event will also continue on Saturday afternoon starting at 19.00 and on Sunday, December 18, from 11.00 in the morning with the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Church of San Giorgio, the opening of the markets and food and wine stands starting at 11.30 with music, cooking and lots of fun until late at night.

“The idea – explains the mayor, Carmine Cennamo – is to relaunch, through the first edition of Strettule, the historical, food and wine, religious and cultural tourism of the Alburni mountains, the so-called Alburni and Southern Dolomites. Creating employment, enhancing local entrepreneurial excellence and local production – explains the mayor – through the enhancement of the ancient village, of spirituality, of ancient traditions and of its typical features to be made known to the world so that Postiglione becomes a leading municipality in the South in terms of entrepreneurship and the fight against depopulation with policies that the municipal administration is putting in place to implement artisan and agri-food factories of typical products and obtain the recognition of the DOP brand for our products. A way – underlines the mayor – to create wealth, protect the economy and give a future to the young people of our land because – concludes Cennamo – the action of a mayor of the South cannot and must not be limited to the ordinary management activities of the public thing but it must be transformed into an opportunity for the whole territory”.

“An event that unites the excellences of Postiglione – says the parish priest, Don Martino De Pasquale. – Entrepreneurship, friendship, but above all culture, well-being and health – says the priest – which put together, represent the driving force of the best minds and the economy of the Alburnum area where a healthy lifestyle with typical foods of the Mediterranean Diet, economy but even culture and spirituality become one”.

The appointment is therefore in December, from 16 to 18 with Strettule, in the charming historic village of Postiglione.
