Rabat – The Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP) has just published “Rabat Magique”, the first publication of a series of books on the cities of Morocco.

This 180-page book highlights the rich heritage of the Capital of the Kingdom and invites the reader on a journey through time and space where the history, architecture, cuisine and spirituality of the city are highlighted.

Published in French and English, “Rabat Magique” sheds light, through these different aspects, on the potential that Rabat has at the tourist, cultural, economic and environmental levels, which, grouped together in a single collection, makes it possible to discover “The City of Light” in all its glory.

Rabat, as described by the Director General of MAP, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, in the presentation of “Magic Rabat”, “is a “cultural melting pot which has absorbed multiple contributions during its history. In an almost geological process, strata have accumulated, solidified, sedimented and given birth to a singular identity”.

In this presentation entitled “The parable of the storks”, Mr. Hachimi Idrissi notes that “the function of political capital of the city, the presence of the Royal Palace within it, of the Mechouar leaning against the Touargas district, of the mosque ‘Ahl Fès ‘ and its multi-secular Makhzen vocation, have given it a patina that envelops the entire population with a kind of urban ‘sacredness’ that would make all the agglomerations of the country profane except, of course, the imperial cities of the Cherifian Empire”.

The city’s urban bet is obviously being won, he underlines, specifying that “there remains the cultural site, over which the Sovereign watches in person. Rabat will be a cultural capital without firing a shot. All the ingredients are there and the will is not left out”.

“We can clearly see that international tourists, lovers of cultural tourism, are coming in increasing numbers to Rabat. A heritage city where museums are legion. It’s like the parable of the storks, where there are tourists, there is tolerance, living together, joy of living and tranquility”, writes Mr. Hachimi Idrissi.

The “Magic” series of MAP aims to make known the cities of the Kingdom and through them the regions to which they belong, by presenting their potentialities through a rich and varied heading, which goes from history to technology, passing through culture, squares and monuments, spirituality, sport, nature, etc.

In addition to rich and well-documented texts, these works will be, like the first issue “Rabat Magique”, illustrated with photos. In addition to bookstores, “Les Magiques” are intended in particular to furnish the rooms and reception areas of hotels, travel agencies, etc., a contribution by MAP to the promotion of national tourism.

After “Rabat Magique”, other books will follow to highlight the strengths of cities that have written glorious pages in the history of the Kingdom, such as Fez, Meknes, Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Marrakech, Agadir, Laâyoune, Dakhla , Oujda, etc.
