“Narrazioni Fiorite”, the triptychs by Giovanni di Corraduccio from Foligno in Trevi

Flowery narratives. This is the title of the artistic exhibition that will be inaugurated in Trevi on Saturday 9 July at 6.30 pm and dedicated to the painter of Foligno origins Giovanni Di Corraduccio; artist interpreter of the late Gothic period who worked between the end of the fourteenth century and the first decades of the fifteenth century. The exhibition dedicated to him, which will take place in the museum complex of San Francesco di Trevi next to the art gallery that houses other works by the artist, will host two gold funds, both from private collections. These are triptychs dominated by an almost unusual narrative dimension, inspired by feminine spirituality; whose typology, well rooted in Umbria since the end of the thirteenth century, is connected to a function of close use reserved for meditation, prayer and the choirs of the nuns. It is no coincidence, in fact, that both triptychs are linked to this dimension: one of the two was dedicated to Saint Lucia, while the other was destined for a monastery of Franciscan Poor Clares in Trevi. The gold funds gathered in the exhibition, which for historical reasons were removed from Trevi (their place of origin), focus attention on the socio-cultural and artistic importance of the area between the end of the fourteenth century and the beginning of the fifteenth century.
The exhibition is promoted and organized by the Municipality of Trevi with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Foligno Foundation. In fact, among the priorities of the latter are the promotion and enhancement of the historical-artistic heritage of the territory, as well as the preservation of the identity of a community. The Foundation contributed to the realization of this project in the belief that “the legacy of a noble past deserves to be preserved, known and put to use to help redesign the present and direct the future towards new horizons”.
The president of the Carifol Foundation, Umberto Nazzareno Tonti, said he was satisfied with the relationship established with the Municipality of Trevi: “We are very satisfied with this public-private synergy which has ensured a precious exhibition and ideas for historical-artistic research and we are sure that the results of the commitment tenaciously pursued by the Cassa di Risparmio di Foligno Foundation will once again be shared and appreciated, in the conviction of working for the good of the community and for the cultural growth of future generations “. The president himself then recalled those who contributed to the realization of the project: “It is no coincidence that the will of the municipal administration, the availability of enlightened collectors, the valuable competent and passionate work of Professor Andrea De Marchi, curator of the exhibition and of its catalog, which, with Giulia Mancini and Federico Donnini, was able to reconstruct the story and history of these works of art, enhancing their context and function. A choral work that will find its consecration in the publication made by the publishing house Edizioni Orfini Numeister of Foligno certain of the importance of the dissemination and knowledge of a heritage and an intangible wealth to be handed down and preserved “.
“Narrazioni fiorite” is an exhibition event curated by Andrea De Marchi, an internationally renowned scholar, not new to the organization of exhibitions of strong appeal and of the highest cultural level.
The exhibition is accompanied by the catalog published by the Orfini Numeister editions and enriched by an extensive photographic documentation accompanying the essays.
It will be possible to visit the exhibition every day, except Mondays, from 10 to 13 and from 15 to 18. For further information, please visit the website museiditrevi.it.
