Pierre-François Tuel, one of the leaders within the Scouts et guides de France of Lisieux (Calvados)notes a decrease in the number of volunteers who supervise. Mid-September 2022there are five chiefs for nearly 90 children.
The young people to be supervised are between 6 and 17 years old. “According to desires and experiences, we go to this or that unit”, explains Pierre-François Tuel. This will involve leading meetings that take place on average once a month, for half a day, a full day or a weekend. An internship period of one to three weeks will take place in July or August.
“The youngest went to around Cormeilles this summer and the intermediate section went to Paris. The older ones went to Spain. »
BAFA funding
If they do not already have it, the new volunteer leaders are fully funded for their BAFA, Brevet d’Aptitude aux Functions d’Animateur, a diploma recognized by the State. “The Scouts et Guides de France association pays 70%, the CAF and the Normandy Region complete”, indicates Pierre-François Tuel.
“Young chefs don’t have to pay a euro to finance their BAFA. »
“The education of young people by young people”
If the group of Scouts and Guides of France in Lisieux does not find enough volunteer leaders, parents will be asked to participate in the supervision. “But that’s not what we want, because the goal of scouting is the education of young people by young people”, specifies Pierre-François Tuel. “However, we are not only looking for young people. »
No obligation to have been a scout.
“It is a Catholic association, open to all. There needs to be an openness to spirituality. We have masses. »
Next releases
The Lisieux group of Scouts and Guides of France will be present at the Lisieux market on Saturday October 8, 2022 in the morning to sell, as every year, its calendars, and to make itself known and finance its activities.
Previously, at the end of September, a back-to-school weekend, allowing reunions between scouts, will take place in Saint-André-d’Hébertot, near Pont-l’Evêque. It will be a camping weekend, in tents, with each unit preparing its food and doing its dishes. Games and a vigil are planned for this occasion.
Next summer, all units will go to camp but the destinations are not yet known. In the meantime, various trips will take place within a radius of about forty kilometers around Lisieux.
