Pope Francis received yesterday in the Paul VI Hall a large group of families of the Neocatechumenal Way, led by Kiko Argüello, who will be sent to the mission.
In the audience with Pope Francis, the initiator of the Neocatechumenal Way, Kiko Argüello, has advanced the next opening in the archdiocese of Madrid of the cause of beatification and canonization of Carmen Hernández, initiator with him of the movement.
The initial procedures for this case began last July, when Carmen Hernández’s death was five years old. At an anniversary funeral Mass in the cathedral, the diocesan postulator, Carlos Metola –appointed by the Neocatechumenal Way and the Family Foundation of Nazareth– delivered to Cardinal Osoro the libel of demand, in which he formally requested the start of the cause.
In these months, the necessary documentation has been presented to the archbishop and the communication has been received from the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints in Rome that there are no serious obstacles to the opening of the cause. The date and place where the solemn opening session of the process will take place will be communicated shortly.

The Pope, who entered shortly after 12 noon, stopped for a few moments to greet several families who had come from different parts of the world.
In his address to the Neocatechumenal families, Pope Francis asked them to follow Jesus Christ’s invitation to depart and bear witness, preaching the Gospel, with the “strength,” he said, “that comes from the Holy Spirit. Go, preach, baptize. But we know that once we have been baptized, the community that is born is free, it is a new Church, and we must let it grow, help it grow, with its own forms, its own culture. This is the story of evangelization.”
All equal before the faith”, said the Pontiff. «The same faith, but all with the modality of their own culture, the culture of the place where the faith was preached. This multicultural richness of the Gospel becomes culture, it is a bit of the history of the Church: many cultures, but the same Gospel, many peoples, but the same Jesus Christ». “Faith grows, it becomes inculturated, but it is always the same”, recalled the Pontiff, expressing his gratitude to the Neocatechumens for their service to the Church with “generosity”.

This is the spirituality that should always accompany us». “Preach Christ with the power of the Spirit, in the Church, with the Church,” is the Pope’s mandate. Who also reiterated that “the head of the different churches is the bishop”: “Always go forward with the bishop, he is the head of the Church.”
In addition, he insisted that they “do not forget the gaze of Jesus, who has sent each one of you to preach and obey the Church.”
