˗ Jesús Adrián, tell us, how are you?

“I am very happy to return to CDMXespecially, to the National Auditorium and have that reunion with the public and connect. Music is a heart to heart connection, of the singer-songwriter who wrote from the depths of his soul and echoes with the hearts of people. That is what results in a concert in which there is something very special that is lived and it is something that for us as musicians it becomes the best feedback and confirmation that what you are doing is correct”.

– Do you come with the material you released this year?

“Yes, we released an EP in May which includes three collaborations with three Mexican singers and has been very well received, we are very happy with it and we are preparing the next EP that it will be released in early 2023, that it will be composed by a group of 12 or 14 songs that we decided to release on two different EPs”.

– How do you see the passage of time, the great acceptance you have from the public?

“It has been very pleasant, I always talk about when you turn back, in the stage I live in now and see it as a script that someone wrote for you, that is, the dreams, the ideas that you had in mind in your adolescence or when you were very young they begin to materialize through the years and you see all the fruit of the work, of the talent. The trajectory becomes a book that you can tell from the beginning, not to the end because we are not done yet, but in a very pleasant way, I speak of gratitude, in the heart first, for that talent that God gives and that this talent has managed to connect with the hearts of other people”.

– How did you discover your talent, your vocation?

“Since I was a child I was always a little, I don’t know if I was stuck, in certain things of the spiritual. I remember taking the catechism to make the first communion and being totally fascinated with this idea of God, the temple. I was very attracted to what has to do with faith and religion. At 16 I had, then, an encounter with what I call the Divine, with God, a spiritual awakening. From that moment on, everything I write has to do with that and the people who listen to my songs realize that almost all of them are a prayer, a cry; I am always asking for something and they revolve around faith, hope, life, family, God, because I am one of those who believe that all people have the need to connect with something more than this life that we live 70, 80 years; my songs always point in that direction.”

– Have you received criticism?

Criticism has come because religion sometimes wants to box you in in the way of speaking, of singing about spirituality and when you don’t do it the way a certain group wants you to do it, they criticize you. I have a more open view of religion and spirituality, I feel like we have confined that to the four walls of a church, but I think we can find God and nurture faith in everyday life when we have dinner with our wife, we play with our children, have a barbecue with friends, go for a walk and be in contact with nature”.

– Your credibility also has to do with leading a lifestyle consistent with what you do, right?

It is important that there is no short circuit between what you speak and what you live and sing. It does not mean that the person has to be perfect or have everything absolutely in order, but it does mean that they have a daily aspiration, a daily desire to do things correctly. Finding that integrity and consistency is important; I always say that a concert for me is not a transaction, that I go up on stage and sing for an hour and a half or two and I leave. Every song for me is something that I feel deep in my heart and I try to live that. If it happens that you don’t live what you sing, the time comes when it just becomes a business and for me it can’t be something like that at all”.

He also concluded Christian pastor and founder of his own record label, Vástago Producciones.
